The winds moan.
The inn shakes.
Footsteps echo above us.
Have the police found the killer?
Nature stills as if holding its breath.
I stare at my shivering guests
before the lights go out.
And the snow continues to fall.
Are you in LA area? I'll be at Dark Delicacies bookstore with these fellow writers (see pic) this Sunday the 17th starting around 3 pm. We'll be reading excerpts, signing, answering questions, scratching our privates, and generally hanging out. I'll sign anything but a check. 822 N. Hollywood Way

After Elizabeth & her best friend buy a bed and breakfast in Maine, bodies fall under unusual circumstances. Can our heroines fight a curse killing everyone in sight?
CON ARTISTS, CRYPTIDS, AND A CARNIVAL with some hidden secrets converge on rural West Virginia in this stylish noir thriller, part of a multi-book anthology series. Smart, atmospheric writing. B PLUS
I reviewed The Graveyard Shift by Maria Lewis for Grimdark Magazine! A late-night radio host finds herself targeted by a Scream-style slasher. Fast and fun, but maybe a bit too light-hearted?
Dark shadows descend
On a night that won't end.
Lightning splits the sky,
Where birds refuse to fly.
Run before it is too late
before you meet your fate.
A mansion rises from the mist.
Will I even be missed?
Vampires descend the stairs,
With their haughty stares.
There is nowhere to hide
From the demons' dark pride.
I dream of his footsteps in the night
When the moon shines its lone light.
But once the sun shines its morning light,
My secret lover is gone from sight.
I’ve re-#read The Martian by Andy Weir. Still enjoying it immensely. I have the original #audiobook narrated by Bray, not the current version by Wheaton. This space #thriller remains one of my favorite #books of adulthood, and one of the first we were able to share with the 19yo when she became an avid reader & a space science buff. The movie is fine, but the #book is so much better. #reading#bookstodon@bookstodon https://amzn.to/3r14ux0
It is a thriller where the author takes her time to settle the story and the strange atmosphere. It is rapidly understood that each character has something to hide and that they don’t meet by coincidence. Hank Phillippi Ryan drops clues here and there . One character looking at another strangely makes the perfect suspect to me !
