Grebe's graceful dive,
Gliding through the watery world,
A feathered dancer.

I had to look up what a Grebe was!

The haikuNetra Journal is a new online haiku magazine founded and edited by haikuist Daipayan Nair from India. The level of the poems in issues 1 and 2 is really impressive. Welcomes submissions ongoing.

2023 has already been a good year for me to have work published. And... there's more to come! My poem 'The flavour of friendship' will be featured in the forthcoming 'The Auroras & Blossoms Magazine: Issue 1'. Available in a couple of weeks. And the publisher has submission windows open for various projects...

Thanks, Alan! Sometimes I find in English certain notions should be one word. This is one of them for me. I'm kind of in two minds about call or calls. I've added an 's'. I think either version works, albeit in a different way. Funny, isn't it, how just one letter can keep you preoccopied.

Warm regards,
Marjolein

@MarjoleinRotsteeg @dailyhaikuprompt @poetry Sometimes a letter, sometimes that letter makes us look at that line or the next. Haiku is sometimes keyhole surgery! Also the constant movement from creation to editing is good for left/right brain activity. :-)

An most excellent choice of haiku by RYOKAN Taigu!

Interestingly, he wrote this haiku as he lay dying in February 1831, which gives the haiku's reference to autumn an extra poignancy.

If you're interested, all of Ryokan's haiku, in Japanese and English, are here:
https://terebess.hu/english/haiku/Ryokan-english.pdf

Cheers!

Thank you for the added context. The reference indeed is even more powerful with it.

I may have read this haiku in a collection about Japanese death poems, but I had forgotten that bit.
