Did John Cage himself even like 4'33"?
This essay argues that he did not.

@MetalClassicalRocks @classicalmusic When I met him at the University of Miami during the Contemporary Music Festival, he laughed throughout the performance of this piece as the crowd hooted, hollered, and chanted “4 33!” For what that is worth.

As everyone knows, 's : Goldberg Variations was released today, but there were two other new releases today worth noting. released her new album, Ghost, and Frank Peter Zimmermann finally, finally, finally, released : Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 2. Why there had to be two volumes, I don't know, but I have dozens of recordings of Bach's Sonatas and Partitas and Zimmermann is solid.

@classicalmusic Hania Rani's new album, Ghosts, is not what I was expecting at all. I suppose there are those who won't be too surprised. I don't think I will be listening to this too often, but right now, in the middle of night when I can't sleep it is rather perfect. Though I don't find it nearly as creative as her previous work, I will still recommend it,...despite the simple beats and one trick pony vocals. I do hope she does not "go pop."

@EdwardPhilips @classicalmusic These are lovely!

Steve Reich's music changed my life. I've been lucky to see Drumming twice (in New York), once the full thing at Town Hall but once I saw the first section in a community center where I was a few feet from the performers, it wasn't even on the bill!

@classicalmusic This was an amazing concert! Bach played the way I hate in Stokowski's orchestration - and it was glorious! Brahms' piano quartet in Schönberg's orchestration, and I loved it! And Tabor-Nagy conducted the best version of Bartok's orchestral concerto I've ever heard🤩
