What a great graphic novel ! I really love how Jonathan Hill uses science fiction to explore the themes of difference, fear of rejection and immigration. It is truly a very smart story : Identity is at the center of the plot, but in a very unexpected way.

It is certainly a very fun read, perfect for fans of Wednesday or Sabrina The Teenage Witch. It is deliciously dark and I enjoyed how the themes of friendship and belonging are explored in the story.
I enjoyed the story and art of this graphic novel. I love how the author incorporated difficult themes such as bullying and islamophobia and learn more about cultural representation and Ramadan through the heroine ‘s point of view. It is an amazing Middle Grade graphic novel !
Five stars: The Bawk-ness Monster by Natalie Riess and Sara Goetter (2023) is a graphic novel about a group of friends trying to say thank you to a cryptid who saved one of them from drowning. In the end of the day they end up having to save the cryptid and a bunch of others too.
This middle grade novel is a great scary read ! Under the cover of a supernatural story, K.R. Alexander explores the themes of difference and being accepted. It is a perfect book for Goosebumps fans !
