As fire spreads, so does our support 🇪🇺🤝🇬🇷

Since 18 July, in response to the wildfires in Greece, the #EU Civil Protection Mechanism has deployed:

️🛩️ 9 firefighting airplanes

🚒 117 fire trucks

🧑‍🚒 510 firefighters

Thank you to the firefighters for your bravery and 🇧🇬🇭🇷🇨🇾🇫🇷🇮🇹🇲🇹🇵🇱🇷🇴🇸🇰🇷🇸 for your support.

The situation is improving. This is European solidarity in action.

Safe access to education is essential to giving Ukrainian children a better future.

To help them return to school safely, 205 buses have been offered to date by cities, regions, and transport bodies in 11 #EU countries 🇫🇷 🇪🇪 🇪🇸 🇸🇪 🇫🇮 🇩🇪 🇱🇺 🇦🇹 🇵🇱 🇨🇿 🇸🇮 via the #EUCivPro Mechanism.

We are also donating €14 million to the procurement of school buses.

65 buses are currently on the way, with more to come.

Wildfires show no regard for borders, but neither does our spirit of solidarity 🇪🇺🤝🇬🇷.

As #Greece battles numerous wildfires, including the devastating ones in Rhodes and Corfu, we have stepped up our support to the emergency services:

👩‍🚒 Over 450 firefighters

✈️ 7 planes from Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Italy, Malta, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.

In these trying times, European solidarity remains unwavering.

Greece, we stand by your side.

Greece, you are not alone, the EU is with you.

As new wildfires broke out in Greece, we are coordinating emergency assistance to the country via the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism.

This means:

✈️ 8 firefighting airplanes from our #rescEU fleet recently doubled

🧑‍🚒 246 firefighters and 40 vehicles.

We stand as one against wildfires. This is #EUSolidarity.
