Two themed networking sessions done to kick off the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP)'s annual conference for me:

1. where I'd like my business to be in 5 years;

2. training I've most enjoyed/want to do.

3. I don't have a plan beyond finding new challenges;

4. I'm doing an academic DE course and want to practice 'critical generosity'* in editing more deliberately (and in hindsight that's my permanent goal!).

While reviewing artwork for a children's picture book, I found inverted clothing patterns and limbs, missing background colors, perspective issues, thought bubbles that should be speech bubbles, errant lines, and layout problems.
