I kinda regret signing this now, because it would have been soooooooooo cool to be the 1000th signatory! Less than 30 to go! Who will it be?
Please boost, share to other networks and sign to save quality jobs at one of the largest and remotest Scottish universities. The impact on our local communities is going to be significant.
Standing up for jobs at UHI. The process is a shambles and has been mismanaged from the start. I have strong feelings that my union activism has made me, and others, a target. Regardless, I'm not going quietly.
Anyone with practical tips, legal advice etc, hit me up cos I have no fucking idea what I'm doing!
@jesusmargar@academicsunite@WIASN@academicchatter@ucu Have done so. Drew Hendry is the only one to respond so far and it was just warm words and no action. You would think the loss of 31 highly skilled jobs in the Highlands and Islands (most of us are in Inverness but others are further afield) would cause some alarm.
@LizEllisPhD@academicsunite@WIASN@academicchatter@ucu I'm sorry to hear that. I'd hope they'd accept an invitation to visit picket lines. Solidarity motions from nearby branches are unlikely to help but it's something people do.
@jesusmargar@academicsunite@WIASN@academicchatter@ucu If it comes to strike action, I think that might be something that will happen. It has all been very rushed and already they are having to put a pause on it because they are getting the process wrong. They are effectively using Musk as management exemplar I think!
@jesusmargar@academicsunite@WIASN@academicchatter@ucu it's super-charged incompetence mostly. One of the most senior execs was asked to leave a voluntary role at a small community organisation because they were so incompetent.
