If you want to fill the gap on your home screen where rif was (RIP and thank you!), I have made good experiences with Connect for Lemmy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kuroneko.lemmy_connect (was not too happy with Jerboa)....
I mean the dev is obviously free to work on whatever he wants, but I’ve had a Tildes account for like 2 years now, and honestly it never got any traction. Lemmy on the other hand is getting a lot of users, and it is desperately missing a non-buggy app....
sad to see it go, hope the freakout and holdmy subs come to lemmy… was only thing i really used reddit for. deleted account a year ago cos was tired of appealing bullshit suspensions and bans
It’s the Golden Girls theme song, but also in a way accurate. Rif was my first introduction to reddit. And the first app I downloaded on every phone. One I used…probably too often haha. Don’t confront me with that data, I’m not ready yet. But through the past decade it’s led me to some extraordinary discoveries, been a...
I joined reddit when I was 13, I'm 23 now. Reddit is fun was an amazing app, I made a lot of friends, laughed, cried, saw some shit that scarred me for life and I loved it. Its crazy for me because I never realized until now how much of an impact it had on my life. I hope that Lemmy takes off, because I already miss rif. Truly...
It was one of the few apps I had on my first ever smart phone. An HTC Inspire. It never left any device I had from then on out. Forgot my old Google account from it and lost my first paid version license. So I bought it again....
Used RIF since 2012, never knew platinum was a thing until the very end. I hope the $3 is a good enough thank you for supporting my reddit addiction for over a decade.
I suspect I echo the thoughts of many users, but to me, RIF really was reddit. It was an app I downloaded from a friend’s recommendation in probably 2013, and is usually the first install whenever ri switch phones, also boasting pride of place right below where my thumb naturally rests on my home screen....
RIF was important to me in a way that's hard to describe. I will always consider it the pinnacle of minimalism functional design. and it was not function over form either, RIF looked amazing....
Thanks for everything RIF. You made Reddit usable, and, well..fun. Going to miss it, and without RIF I will simply not be using reddit anymore on mobile. I refuse to use the official app, I'd rather just fill that time with something else. Good luck in your future endeavours, RIF team.
For the past ~2 weeks or so I’ve stayed away from reddit (which used to occupy one to two hours a day of my time). I stopped by today for one final nostalgic use of RIF.
