Crossposts are a great way to follow posts from one community to the next, and discover more user contributions. I would love to see that on Lemmy.
I can’t found it how can I post embedded videos or posts from social media sites, like on Reddit or other similar sites.
I’m not sure what the current state of federalization is. I’ve tried to find it in the GUI but didn’t find an option to subscribe a community from another instance.
Where did the API documentation in the documentation go? There used to be this great listing of all of the API calls but it seems to be gone now?
Sorry if this is obvious question
I created a few communities here in Lemmy, but I can’t find any moderation options in the mobile apps I tried (Jerboa, Connect)....
It is nice to know your comment/post are appreciated!
RIght now lemmy doesn’t calculate or display a user’s “karma”. And many think this a good thing (me included)....
In the past, we would type something like site:reddit.com into a search engine to get to the resource we needed. In the meantime, I have already found a few useful tips on Lemmy instances by using the Lemmy search. But since all Lemmy instances are named differently, a simple site:lemmy won’t work well in a search engine....
So you’ve all see videos from channels like Emkay and Updoot Studios or the like right? The ones that shamelessly steal Reddit content and reads it, no attribution or linkback to the original, all while making fuck-you levels of ad revenue?...
The two top entries on lemmy.world sorted by hot as of a few minutes ago were a porn link on a porn community (nothing against porn per se, but I don’t want to see it on the front page) and a bot post to some kind of bot link community. I see the “block user” button but I don’t particularly care to see anything from...

Hi all,...
in the process of deleting every comment of my lemmy.world account, and permanently joining some instance that does not censor stuff
Is it possible to block entire instances? I see I can block by user or community, but not by instance....
If you’re a Lemmy dev and reading this, the problem is in pict-rs. I have sent an email to asonix with the needed changes, please tell them to check their inbox (since I can’t register on their git server, I can’t submit a formal PR)....
So that if you paste a link to one of those big social media platforms, it offers to replace it with a working alternative front-end.
Hey there, I wanted to join some communities in the programming.dev instance, but it doesn’t seem to be connected to any other instance (I can’t see it from my account’s instance and its community list also only has its own communities). The signup form also freezes if I try to make an account on the instance directly. Am...
Whereas I might’ve been less generous with upvotes on Reddit, I think it’s important in these early formative stages to let others know that I appreciate their contributions. I hope it encourages growth and activity!
If the reddit exodus happens and Lemmy gets even 2% of reddit’s daily active users, how will Lemmy sustain the increased traffic? I know donations are an option, but I don’t think long term donations will be sustainable. Most users will never donate....

It’s easy to discover communities on my instance via the dedicated page in the hamburger menu. But let’s say I want to follow a community on another instance, such as !lemmy . I might have found its name mentioned in a post or comment. When I click on the provided link, I’m thrown on that instances web page, from which I...
Every time I look at reddit or twitter they’re designed to be filled with the most vile or annoying posts imaginable to keep you scrolling and this place just… doesn’t have that. It’s relieving to not be inherently angry just scrolling through new posts
Just joined, and well, I’m thinking ill stay. Ive been looking for a good reddit alternative for a while now. devs, you’ve done quite some good work here.
