I still have many different accounts on matrix, lemmy, mastodon, etc. and although you may communicate somehow, it doesn’t work properly.
Hey guys! I was wondering if Mastodon is down or something cause I’ve been trying to login and see all the content there but apparently it’s either really slow or it’s just straight not even working. I did check my internet but it’s working for me on all other websites. Just wanted to make sure!
Why isn't it so popular compared to mastodon? I just found out about it and it looks pretty mature imo, it's only popular with japanese people.
I know everybody with a project should have their own website and then federate to social networks. But people have become lazy in this sense and they hold their projects inside instagram. Ok, they could use pixelfed instead, but IG/PF are not the best fit for holding a project (for example your artistic/therapeutic/whatever...
If you ran Lemmy or kbin locally as a single user instance with no hosted communities and it was not live all of the time would you miss a lot pushed data? Would this data be pulled later? Would this cause de-federation?
I noticed that when I view this post for example on lemmy.world: https://lemmy.world/post/291005 and on dataterm.digital: https://dataterm.digital/post/54221 that both of them are the same post but with a different number of votes and comments....
With the current reddit migration happening I’ve remembered when Tumblr promised they were gonna add support for ActivityPub “ASAP”....
Hi! I have a 2 cores/2 GB VPS with very light use, right now....
A bit paradoxal but it looks that all central platform (twitter, reddit, facebook…) are helping the spread of Fediverse. Recently we saw the impact with Twitter on Mastodon, myself I’ve discovered Lemmy even if I wasn’t a reddit user. And before that Facebook first spread friendica and diaspora. It looks next step will be...
What’s stopping us from using the api to post all of reddit here in a massive one-time merger?...
Hello everybody. I’ve been browsing the Fediverse for a few months now and I’m loving it but there’s a not-that-small issue I’m having with Pixelfed...
This is a post I originally made on my #calckey account, but I think it belongs here too....
John Mastodon was a computer programmer and avid social media user. He was frustrated with the centralized nature of most social media platforms, which meant that a single company had control over the content and data of its users. This often led to censorship, privacy violations, and manipulation by the companies for their own...
I haven’t been able to subscribe to any communities hosted on kbin instances. I can see the communities, but they stay at “subscribe pending” and the posts never show up....
Hey, i’m a software developer and i’m considering trying to build a site using ActivityPub, but i have a few concerns about it. My first concern is that if the platform is open source someone can host a malicious version of it, where certain requests may be ignored (such as deletion)....
It would be extremely funny
Here’s the article...
EDIT: I know many people have a knee-jerk aversion to anything crypto, but this is not a scheme to make money. I would be happy to see this done with fiat as well, but IMO this is much easier to do with smart contracts....

I told somebody I know who knew about Reddit’s API changes about Lemmy. He has a master’s degree in Computer Science and works as a software engineer. But then, he told me that it’s too confusing to get into, even for someone like him. This is great feedback and I hope that these issues will be fixed in the coming months....
Correct me if I’m wrong. I read ActivityPub standards and dug a little into lemmy sources to understand how federation works. And I’m a bit disappointed. Every server just has a cache andthe ability to fetch something from another known server. So if you start your own instance, there is no profit for the whole network until...
Hey,...
I never got into mastodon because I couldn’t connect multiple instances. I like this a lot about Lemmy so far (just here for a few minutes though)....
The lemmyverse sounds perfect, but it ignores alternatives like kbin etc. It would be better if we didn’t end up with the situation we have with Mastodon where people assume Mastodon is the fediverse....
