I realised the other day that I’ve enjoyed lots of murder mystery games and shows, but I’ve hardly read any mystery novels. The only ones that come to mind are Altered Carbon and some of the Discworld Watch novels (all great!)....

I know it is a known Classic but i liked Animal Farm so much i had to share. Before reading i thought that it would be similar to 1984 or Brave new world which it kind of is but its also very very different. Right from the Beginning i was hooked. I really love Orwells Books but this one is my favourite. I did not expect that. So...

In universe I mean, not by the reader. I remember the few times I saw stories like that were fairly… cringe; the MC was usually a loner and the people didn’t have a good reason to hate him, if any at all!...

Can Anyone Recommend me Magic/Superhero School or Guild Stories?...

Wow, what a great adventure! If you haven’t heard of it, it’s about an English sea captain who gets marooned in Japan around 1600, and has to adapt to Japanese culture. Lots of politicking, romance, and decapitation. Very loosely based on real people too....

I loved the book, it was a very fun fever dream. Do the sequels have that same sort of frenetic energy?...

My go-to writer in bad times and good times and all the times in between. If you love witty humour, try it. Or start with the TV show with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie (although there are so many funny things in those stories that can’t be done on screen)

I learned to read in grade school like pretty much everyone else I know, and I remember really enjoying reading for a very narrow portion of my younger years. When reading books became a compulsary part of school, that enjoyment just vanished, and video games ended up filling that void of “solitary passtime”. I dont even...

I always say to myself that it is not worth to force books through. I do like 1/5th then I drop it if it did not catch me. Now I’m reading Pandora’s star which is a great scifi book and sandwitched inbetween the great scfi chapters there is this uninteresting detective storyline with zero scifi, people talking to eachother...

Playing about with Obsidian lately as a note replacement app and started treating a portion of it like a books list, read, currently reading, notes etc and I just think it’s neat.

Like, I understand listening to them while driving to work, exercising, doing chores, etc!...

I’m nearing the end of the wheel of time, first book that Sanderson worked on....

I read The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, and take enjoyed it. Read another book, then started reading Devil and the Dark Water by the same author. I got about 25% through and just decided to drop it for something else. I’m not an avid reader so i never know if I should stay committed or not.

I finally read “Old Man and the Sea”. I have tried to start it many times, but the beginning was just so slow. Has anyone here read it? What are your thoughts on this Ernest Hemingway classic?
