Most casual users of services aren't tech-savvy enough to know how to pirate. It's easy to forget that pirates are the minority when the seven seas are so popular.

My problem is that some of the stuff I would download was for my kid. Since rarbg shut down, no new episodes of one of her favorite shows have become available. I'm forced to subscribe to a package with that channel so she can watch. Just a month or so ago, my wife and I were discussing scaling back our subscriptions even further, then rarbg shut down, and it seems like I'm going the other way now.

If you're interested i can give you magnet link of a rarbg website dump. It's an SQLite database, which can be browsed with a tool like https://github.com/sqlitebrowser/sqlitebrowser.

dookie,

The children aren't paying for streaming services. asking your parents to pay for something will always be easier than pirating.
