‘I’m afraid I won’t make it to 15 June’: Russian Activist Anatoly Berezikov predicted his own death and died in a jail for minor offenders on 14 June ( web.archive.org )

Berezikov's lawyers believe that their client was tortured at the police station during the several hours that she was looking for him. She managed to take a photo of Berezikov’s back in the courthouse: the lawyer believes there were stun gun bruises on it. “He told me in the courthouse: I won’t make it to 15 June. I’m afraid they’ll kill me. I won’t make it out of jail,” Tatyana Sporysheva, a public defender, recalls.

Russian authorities now plan to investigate [Berezikov's defenders] Irina Gak and Tatyana Sporysheva for “knowingly disseminating false information"

[Human rights project] OVD-Info noted that Berezikov told Sporysheva shortly before his death that his personal belongings, including his bank card, disappeared after his arrest. Sporysheva also published an appeal from Gak on Telegram that alleged that an FSB officer came to Berezikov’s cell and threatened to arrest him again and open a criminal case against him.
