Don’t know why you’re being downvoted, it’s a good question. The answers don’t mean they’re good services.

My mom does laundry for something, I don’t remember the name, but if you want someone to do your laundry there’s an uber for laundry where they’ll come pick it up and drop it off folded. Skeevs me out but apparently it’s worth it to some

I don’t have much else to say now but I’m looking forward to learning more.

And I imagine there’ll be some time where I’m very happy to talk about what happened here, but not now.

I just want to like let this process go and not interfere.

You’d have to ask Ilya that.

Remember when journalists actually you know, did their jobs?

I think Henry Kissinger is one of those unifying things. It’s amazing, black or white, communist or capitalist, east or west… everyone hated him

Check out the Topaz line of products. You’ll have to pay (I think there’s a trial though), but it does pretty amazing work

Tail as old as time. I remember living in Iowa through several of the last “threats”. Midwesterners stocked up thinking they were going to be the first in the nation. Yes Fred, I’m sure the order is going to go New York, LA, Lake Okiboji in Iowa, Chicago.

Keep them afraid, keeps them obedient.

What about our towns walmart?!

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

In WA they’ve had to close one because morons would back up onto the street, down an offramp, and onto the freaking interstate. For a chicken sandwich.

Of course it’s in a non-walkable spot, across the interstate from all of the businesses and offices so everyone drives there

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

and you knew exactly where I was talking about. They closed it finally!

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

They did! But I’m real real nervous it’s only to add another drive-thru or something stupid.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

I will never not be mad at that.

Let’s take the show halo fans have wanted for decades now, bring in a bunch of people who know nothing about the franchise, forbid them from learning about the franchise, and then we’ll market to people who don’t care about the franchise.

Corpo marketing big brains right there. Halo has one of the largest followings in gaming and still that wasn’t enough. Hell the fans would have encouraged others to watch but nooo had to make it bland and generic for non fans. And they didn’t even do that well!

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

It’s a lot of things, but what I said there was true. They literally forbade the writers from playing any of the games or reading the books. They wanted to “attract a new audience” and “make something new”. So now instead of the TV show all of us fans wanted we have something with master chief and if you squint your eyes it might look like a halo plotline

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

50% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Idk what the idiots in corporate marketing were thinking, but in my dreams they were all fired.

@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

I saw this earlier and I’m glad it was removed almost immediately.

Working retail/service in the US is a joke because people have become so entitled that they don’t even think of service workers as humans anymore. When I used to work retail at a certain big blue box electronics store I was screamed at, yelled at, belittled, called names, and in a couple very extreme cases had items thrown at me and one person took a swing at me.

This is just another example of that. People here in the US are so detached from reality and laser focused on their routine that they literally cannot comprehend that workers may want to spend a holiday with their family too. Or worse than that, they think workers don’t deserve to be at home with their families on a holiday, because they deserve service more than you deserve to see your family. God forbid they microwave a meal that one day.

It’s pure entitlement and it’s disgusting. Surprisingly I found that the lower income/societal class the person is the more entitled they would act towards me as a service worker.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Sorry man, but no, granted that’s my personal anecdotal experience.

That doesn’t mean there weren’t people who were complete assholes at all levels, but generally speaking the most entitled people were the ones who didn’t deserve to be. I guess I could clarify that people who wanted to act like they were happy with life were the worst, most entitled people I came across. The people who either did actually hold status or didn’t care if they did were more tolerable.

I won’t pretend to be an expert and understand. The only things I’ve thought over the years were either 1) They needed to feel more important than someone, and service workers are a good scapegoat there or the more unfortunate one 2) There are just more points of contention. Someone doing well won’t react as badly to their laptop being fried compared to someone who isn’t doing well - they have different impacts on the people. That one is more important, but I don’t think that excuses the pure abuse that was hurled at me either.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

That’s my personal belief as to why. As long as they can think they’re better than someone else they don’t have to actually work on themselves.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Lol the amount of angry conservative farmers who yelled at me far outweighs anyone else dude. Some of the most miserable people on the planet from what I can tell.

Get out of here with your obvious baiting.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

I’ve heard you can flash lineage on there… Media PC in the main room but I’ve always loved my shield for a spare room control. Would rather risk bricking it by flashing it than dealing with ads.

They can’t even do the “poor Google we have a service to run” thing here, this is just greed. I bought the hardware, I don’t deserve ads on it too.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

It’s fun because I bought the shield to not use the built in TV crap because they were filled with ads. I’m curious about the play here from Nvidia and google, because why else do people need an extra box if not for that?

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Yeah, I think for now I’ll be going an easier way like FLauncher. However I’m keeping flashing in my back pocket to do more research on if I need it later.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

I returned a TV to Best buy because it had a dead pixel. I remember the manager was real annoyed, but exactly what you said. What, I saved up for all that time to buy a TV… Only to pick the wrong one in the line and I should suffer for it? Nah. Exchanged it for a working one, manufacturer can take the hit, not me

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

God yeah. Even if they had some interesting ideas they’ve been lost to all the circle jerking that there’s no way of seeing how any of them can be taken seriously.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Or, and hear me out, I can rent a truck for the one time a year I need one. 20 bucks for a few hours from uhaul vs… 20,000 more for a big truck over a commuter car.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

They brag about being able to carry stuff then get one of those stupid long cab short beds that are good at nothing

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

I’ve thought that too. If they made a tiny truck, like an old style 90s ranger or tacoma but as an EV? I’d buy that tomorrow. Literally tomorrow I’d go buy it. But of course they don’t, they’re all these monstrously sized bohemoths that I have no interest in driving.

Until they make my dream tiny truck I’ll just go rent one.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Yep, you can easily sort it just because of the ordering. It’s a full standard

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Right here with you friend. Fuck reddit, they burned me hard by killing Sync. The most I use it is when I’m googling something I need.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Ah I wonder what indicators you use when you first meet people to immediately judge if they are worthy or not. What subtle deep in your mind factors decide if someone deserves it.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

I’d recommend archiving all of the channels you can from Youtube, it’s clear they don’t want our traffic at all.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

I meant firefox and non chrome users in general but yeah

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

If you are republican you believe in cutting social safety nets, pro war, anti gun regulation, and anti lgbtq. I view all of those as “bad people traits”. I don’t think anyone who can say they are for gutting welfare can also say they are a good person at heart.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

You just vote for a party that openly supports doing that.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Exactly. You can say please and thank you all you want, hold doors open for people, smile at them on the sidewalk, but that’s all thrown in the garbage if you aren’t willing to actually do something to help people.

Welfare is a great example - most republicans use the “it’s being abused” line as their go-to reason that it should be scrapped. Being a good person is knowing that it is being abused - but the value of it helping people outweighs the 1ish percent of people who are on it and abuse it.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Then you shouldn’t just vote republican or democrat, but as an american. I don’t label myself as either one - but over the last several elections the choice has been obviously democrat because of the republicans trying to seize power so much. If they could modernize their platform at all I would think about voting for them - but they’re stuck in the 1950s.

So to cut power stop voting on party lines. Show that you’ll vote based on who has the best ideas, not a simple “I’ll always vote R”

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

As Jesus wanted

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Yeah I’ve found most of the time people getting banned for being “too risque” don’t realize that it’s only them who finds it funny. 2 week ban is a pretty heavy thing… but I didn’t see the meme either.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Typical rage-quit. They could message the mod, apologizing and asking them to update the rules - but then they couldn’t use the free speech narrative.

Of course they all demand they should be able to upload whatever vile shit they want and completely forget that these are individuals who have to host their shit. As a server admin myself I am very open with the bans. I can’t just be hosting whatever they decide to upload

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

I think it’s interesting how other people play. I never plan out my road systems. Highways I have a rough idea, but I personally like the challenge of figuring out that I’ve run out of space and I need to fix it. It ends up feeling like a more realistic city to me, with grid systems meeting that were never meant to collide, weird bits of space, it all makes it feel authentic to me

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Dude I’m in the loop (Following this all pretty closely) and I have no idea what’s happening. Everything coming out is pure speculation and rumors, I don’t think any of us can have a formed opinion. Lemmy here has been batting back and forth on who the bad guy is and frankly - I don’t think anyone except for employees there know

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

My wife likes to joke when I’m in an anxiety spiral by saying “okay well on the off chance that society doesn’t crumble maybe you should plan for the future”. For some reason that always makes me laugh. If it does it does, but it’s probably best to have a plan still.

And reasonable budgeting can let you enjoy the now while also planning for the future

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Agree with all of these. Like they need a vehicle that can tow a semi every day for 800 miles. I’ve had the same talk and for many of them they are at LEAST a 2 car household. I keep saying okay if you need a vehicle that can do all of that… What about the other vehicle. Silence every time. Because they can’t accept that there may actually be a valid use case.

You want a giant truck for towing? Fine. But 90% of them are lying to themselves. Those people need commuter cars, and that’s where EVs are perfect

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Meaning that electric vehicles are something that the average person can do right now to ebb climate change. However if your local power authority hasn’t gone green (mine is a combo of hydro, wind, and nuclear) then you should also push them to go green asap.

Please don’t call it brainwashing. I’ve researched the subject from a lot of angles and have come to the conclusion it’s the best for me, while I still push our local governments to build out transport. I’m trying to lower my carbon footprint the best I can as an individual.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

I think what you’re seeing as toxic asshole may actually be confidence. You don’t need to prop up a woman as a perfect diety, you don’t have to just be nice to them, you have to be a whole complete person. Being nice is the minimum, be more than that. Genuine and kind is the minimum expectation, not the whole package. You, the whole you, are the complete package. Your humor, your jokes, your stories, your interests. You aren’t looking for a princess or queen that you have to bow down for. You’re looking for a true life partner.

I hate to link reddit but this sums it up well. It’s a read, and I’d suggest reading through it. God knows I used to think that way - and it was not a healthy thing for me to do. If you’re thinking this way too then it may be time for some real, and I mean real introspection.

reddit.com/…/women_dont_like_nice_guys_women_like…

I’m rooting for you bud, I really am. As cliche as it is, you just gotta be yourself. Don’t look with envy at other people, be happy for them. Be a person who you can be proud of and other people will pick up on that.

scrubbles,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Me too bud, I had to relearn a lot. For me there was a ton of religious upbringing that taught me that talking to girls is taboo at all, and it didn’t prep me at all for the real world. It took me years to realize that girls were just like boys when you’re talking to them - there’s literally no difference. Something a lot of people here would just eyeroll at but for me it was a major revelation. It took a very good (female) friend to help me realize that. She and I could chat for hours about video games, movies, whatever.

It’s not an easy or fun job, working on yourself, learning how you handle different situations. It’s a long process and personally I learned things about myself that I didn’t like, I had to change. I remember thinking people I worked with thought “He’s the cool mysterious guy” when it turns out they all thought “He’s an absolute asshole. Avoid him”. I took some hard punches learning all of that. But - I came out better for learning it.

I wish you luck on your journey. Self improvement pays off 100 fold and I fully support you for it!
