A debut author has lost her book deal after she admitted to "review bombing" competitors on Goodreads, largely targeting women of color. In a letter posted to X, Cait Corrain blamed her behavior on mental-health struggles and addiction. Here's more from the Mary Sue.

The review star rating banner is done on arithmetic mean, rather than median, and as such, a bunch of 1-star ratings with have an outsized effect on the mean, and pull the rating down far more than you might think. When purchasing decisions and the algorithm suggestions hinge on fractions of a point, those 1-star reviews could break the deal and have large effects on purchasing.

In December and January I typically read books that my buddies (librarians and booksellers) thought were great but I didn’t get around to. Just finished C Pam Zhang’s Land of Milk and Honey and it was incredible. Reading Happiness Falls by Angie Kim now and then will read North Woods by Daniel Mason. If you enjoy that are a little , with elements of Hitchcock, Dahl, and Poe, and a bit like "The Monkey's Paw" meets "Final Destination, you may enjoy this collection of stories that might make you cringe a little, laugh a lot, and sink into the warm embrace of schadenfreude

Nice approach. Definately female, and pretty sure she murders him bc of he constantly writes scripts for formulations that required bothersome compounding, doses that needed hand titration or splitting, or for specific branded drugs not in the formulary. In addition to that was his habit of sending orders back without explanation, repeated status requests on orders, and most infuriatingly, not answering his pager.

For those of you , I have some in the section.

These stories are like "Final Destination" meets "The Monkey's Paw". As such, they are satirical tragedies more than either mysteries or horror, and would appeal most to readers who enjoy the inexorable pull of a story arc that leads from fateful act to final doom. In each episode, somebody makes a wish or a decision that ends in death, often their own
