"I look in the mirror-

I cannot see myself."

==========

"Heart Vermillion" is a potential collage based anatomical horror [???] made by Iconographic Propaganda.

The story follows the "Death of an Author", and the subsequent breach of a figment borne of the author's final moments- and it's crusade against the remnants of the body.

"Sight", a target-headed hollowed out anatomical dummy wields "The Gun", a living firearm permanently affixed to their right hand.

=============

...You know those magazine advertisements back in the early aughts? Wholly unrelated to the subject matter, and far too provocative to make sense.

This is one of those.

iconographicpropaganda, to random

Though I have always understood the presence behind the curtain and greatly appreciated the craft thereof (though, only at a layperson's level)- upon my attempt at frontend creation, I now realize the true horrors I have heard only spoken to me.

Eventually I shall learn to speak to this wretched computer, and it shall understand me- into the brain I shall whisper pure information... but for now, creating a button.

Ç'est une révolution.

iconographicpropaganda, to random

...Has anyone actually made an anatomical horror project?

A system which operates outside of your control, constant and steadfast- more complex than any machine, defined by an endless loop of processes that no one has gotten to the bottom of, work which is absolute and must continue, but undescribed, unknown- forceful.

Yames' style of horror (Discover my Body, Water Womb World) utilizes push factors, things which force you, or your character directly into the depths- curiosity which damns you, like a child discovering something wrong (and, like a nightmare, are punished in a horribly overblown way.)

One game of theirs, "Discover My Body" uses the lens of anatomy as both a push factor and the main concept- something which you cannot run from, something you must bear, something that is given to you in hearty detail that you must absorb... It's main focus is the transformation, and the anatomy thereof rather than the existing systems of the human body.

[Extreme flashing light warning if you choose to play "Covetus", t let it be known the creator wishes it not to be.]

An old newgrounds game titled "Covetous" follows an exaggerated case of two medical conditions ("Fetus in Fetu" / Parasitic Twin), the plot of which being that you control the "Brother" of a victim, subsisting entirely on the biological systems of the host (Though not anatomically accurate)... The gameplay is simple, but utilizes a sort of x-ray perspective as the game space.

Though not horror, the series "Trauma Center" utilizes strange (but fantastical) diseases and illnesses as a central plot point: E.G,

-A "Fish" that swims within an organ and causes large amounts of lacerations within a split second

-A parasite which creates a web to "sap energy" from a victim's heartbeat

-Tumors which, when cut can randomly explode in a cloud of harmful gas.

...

On a totally unrelated note, I vaguely remember a snippet of a horror movie on Cable TV- perhaps distorted through my bouts of childhood sleep paralysis, and the general state of "Concious Unconciousness" between the 2-3 minutes of "Wake" and "Dream", right as your eyes start to slip.

It was an "Osmosis Jones" sort of closeup (Camera pan to chest, cut to a menagerie of "Veins" inside of a body.)

...

I'm not sure if I could make one, I'm far too "esoteric" for horror, and unlike the fetishists' "Gleeful" interpretation of the macabre, I don't have the heart nor skill to describe things directly.

should i buy a polaroid or go the easy route and use the digital camera i already have

iconographicpropaganda,

Digital cameras, due to their nature can interface with computers- this allows a greater range of freedom in both data transportation and the art of photography, but sometimes leaves a large swath of artifacting or other unwanted residue (Red eyes with flash, fuzzy images in certain lighting, though these sorts of things are in vogue, depending on the style of photography or art you wish to create.)

Film cameras utilize film- which, is generally fairly pricey, however it's far better at capturing subtle details and color contrasts.

TL;DR-

DIGITAL CAMERAS

-Require Batteries/Charging

-Grants modern data transfer, allows for easy editing.

FILM CAMERAS

-Require no batteries/charging, requires film.

-Better subtle details, lighting, color, and produces higher resolutions.

My advice? Stick with the digital, get a nice USB stick and or SD card reader for data transferral... It's easier and cheaper than scanning physical film.

[CW: Anatomical Journals, Medical Phenomena, Etc.]

I've stumbled into a gold mine- Three volumes of "Surgical Anatomy", with very high quality plates.

VOLUME 1: https://archive.org/details/surgicalanatomyt01deav/page/n13/mode/2up

VOLUME 2: https://archive.org/details/surgicalanatomyt02deav/page/34/mode/2up

I'll scrounge around for the third, when time allows.

...I've just realized that my hobby is the sort of thing that would be covered on one of those daytime cop shows.

Jokes on them, I retain nothing of value- I've oft refrained from reading too deep, as all texts are, at bare minimum, 96 years old.

I wish I could give thanks to the illustrators and print makers- or find their names at all, really.

Quite a shame I woke this morn- I dreamt of a museum, modern in structure with two stories.

Across the walls, ceiling to floor were pictures like the ones I use-

Prints or Handdrawn things: Diagrams, Beautiful Women and detailed guides to Anatomy.

Is this what Marco Polo felt dreaming of cities for Kublai?

How many knights have dreamt of surgery before they knew the word?

“Lay me down and let me sleep,

guide her hand and let it be- cut from me, lord!.. cut from me.”

“Oh, how her gown did drape, hands gripped yet wrapped-

the touch of steel gainst’ my chest and, oh, lord, I shan’t say, I shan’t say.”

How many have dreamed this dream?

Of biology, of forms ill fitting, of the pleasures of unpleasantry-

How many have yearned for skin, or gluttony, or to act an animal.

I ask of you to dream, to want, to yearn- for those who are unable,

I ask of you to make, to write to dance to sing to paint, for I shall drink of all that’s left because simply I will never be.

And how I will never be, I will never be, Oh, how I will never be

I need to delve deep into fetish literature to find more instances of that one /specific/ type of horror that I find myself unable to write.

iconographicpropaganda,

I'll give you a two terms with examples from media that vaguely hit the same mark:

"Disproportionate Punishment"

(E.G, David Firth's "Sock Six [9:21 - 10:12)

Rule breaking which leads to overblown proportions

Disproportionate Punishment is often used in pair with Humiliation, in which the absurd "Punishment" is deemed socially acceptable.

"The Realization"

(E.G, Jack Stauber's "Opal [10:41 - 11:26])

The last coherent thought she had was that she couldn't move anymore.

The same sort of thing you would see in a good horror flick, the slow realization of a life ruining event, or the shuffle towards the end of a scenario.

I've found that some instances of extreme fiction showcase the idea of a sort of "Body as a prison cell" idea a-la "Johnny Got His Gun" through a more visceral "Anatomical" lens.

There's an entire genre of fetish fiction dedicated to the idea of a "Bad End", which at it's best are chilling stories with something strange going on in as the focus.

iconographicpropaganda,

There's a large swathe of fiction that forces characters to grapple with "Permanence", an impossible situation which drastically alters their life in a permanent way.

The grandest art I have ever seen has come from no educated man, it has come from no scholar nor poet, it has come from no deity or religion.

It has come from fetishists.

Have you ever read the mental decay of someone bound indefinitely? Ultimate domination through bodily manipulation, overblown punishments, and cultural fixations.

The best anatomy I have seen is anatomy impossible, anatomy developed or decided upon.

A long time ago I read something that could easily be a standalone series, something about a total food and near structural collapse, major class divide- the protagonist was a practicing doctor turned butcher.

I remember the stories vaguely- it was fetishism, of parasites and gore, of mass scale consumption of "prey", but was grand nonetheless.

It was /art./

A long time ago I played a game, the ending from the bearer of an inward world, revealed to be crafted, not generated- the bearer laments over fetish in a way I cannot describe.

A long time ago I took a week and experienced the P.O.V of the bearer of genetic curse and vindictive family- health issues turned mechanic, prose of anatomy, bile, medication, machinery, and immobility ; One of two ends, filled to organ rupture or a quiet resolution of bittersweet acceptance and the flight of a dragon.

I have seen perspectives never told, the famous without followers- hungry ghosts and hoarders trail behind the grandiose.

...

I’ll leave it up to you to find them, I'd rather not introduce non-native fauna into the depths.

...

I'm quite fond of the classics, though- disturb them all you wish. [Minimized List.]
