Was ist das bitte eine Sinnfreie Umfrage in Deutschland? Die einzige persönliche Transportmöglichkeit die eigene Infrastruktur und besondere Maßnahmen zur Trennung von Fußgängern bekommt ist das Auto. Ist doch vollkommen klar, dass der restliche Pöbel (inkl. anderer Fußgänger wohlgemerkt) regelmäßiger aneckt, wenn alle vor den Autos flüchten und nirgendwo gescheite Fahrradwege existieren.
Das glaub ich dir sofort, aber ich verstehe nicht ganz warum mein Kommentar jetzt gewertet wird als würde ich behaupten die Statistik sei falsch oder Fußgänger würden nicht von Fahrradfahrern oder E-scooter-fahrern behindert werden. Das zugrundeliegende Problem ist weiterhin, dass der Mangel an getrennten Wegen eben genau diese Situation so häufig macht. Irgendeinen Konflikt wird es immer geben, aber im Moment sind einfach zu viele unterschiedliche Fortbewegungsmethoden im selben Raum unterwegs. Ich will mal sehen wie rücksichtsvoll die Autofahrer bewertet werden würden, gäbe es keine Gehwege oder Fußgängerüberwege.
Aber was soll das bitte aussagen? Die Rücksichtlosigkeit wirst du den Menschen kaum restlos austreiben können. Während wir versuchen die Gesellschaft grundlegend zu transformieren könnten wir aber zumindest die Fortbewegungsarten nach Geschwindigkeit aufteilen.
Langsam merk ich, dass man keine lösungsorientierte Diskussion führen kann mit Leuten die sich einfach bloß aufregen wollen. Das Problem der Arschlöcher in der Öffentlichkeit gibt es schon lange und ich sehe weder mich, noch sonst irgendwen dazu in der Lage das zu lösen.
In Deutschland? Ist mir bis auf ein paar Ausnahmestädte wirklich neu. Normalerweise verenden die Radwege nach ein paar Metern oder werden als geteilte Wege ausgewiesen für Fußgänger und Radfahrer.
Und eben Radfahrer die die Radwege nicht nutzen und Fußgänger auf den Gehwegen in die Quere kommen. Aufgeteilt nach Geschwindigkeit aber ignoriert.
Wo passiert denn das? Ich kann mir nicht erklären warum jemand mit dem Fahrrad auf dem Gehweg fährt, wenn ein gleichwertiger, getrennter Radweg ohne Hindernisse vorhanden ist, es sei denn du unterschlägst eventuell ein paar Details.
Übrigens möchte ich noch mal darauf hinweisen, dass ich zu keinem Zeitpunkt angezweifelt hab, dass Autofahrer die Fußgänger im Alltag am wenigsten behindern. Der Mangel an Autos auf dem Gehweg ist genau das worauf ich von Anfang an hinaus wollte. Warum ist das so schwer zu verstehen? Will mir vielleicht noch irgendjemand offene Türen einrennen und mir klar machen, dass sie in letzter Zeit gar nicht auf dem Gehweg vom Auto überfahren wurde?
Das passiert wo hier vor allem Radfahrer aus einer Wohnsiedlung an der Ampel warten müssten, die Straße queren und auf der anderen Seite auf dem Radweg weiter fahren müssten. Stattdessen fahren sie quer über die Straße, auf den Gehweg, um die Kurve und entgegen der Fahrtrichtung (der Straße und des Radwegs) auf dem Gehweg weiter. Und das sehe ich täglich und oft.
Jetzt macht das ganze schon deutlich mehr Sinn. Je unattraktiver man den Radverkehr gestaltet, desto mehr läd das Arschlöcher dazu ein sich unangengebracht zu verhalten.
Ich verstehe nicht was dein Problem ist. Ich hab keinen Bock auf die Seite zu springen weil jemand fährt wo er nichts zu suchen hat. Ob Fahrrad oder Auto ist mir eigentlich egal. Dass Radwege teils Scheiße sind ist ein Problem, aber stattdessen auf den Gehweg zu fahren ist auch eins. Und so machen Radfahrer ihr Problem zu meinem.
Mein Problem ist, dass manche Leute offensichtlich keinen Bock zum lesen haben und grundsätzlich mal ihren inneren Fantasie-Erzfeind auf ihr gegenüber projizieren im Internet. Schreib ich hier irgendwo, dass es okay ist wenn die Radfahrer Fußgänger über den Haufen fahren oder was? Ich fahr ganz sicher nicht wie ein Volldepp den Leuten über die Füße, aber ich werd hier behandelt als hätt ich “Nieder mit den Fußgängern” in der Signatur stehen. Ich wünsch auf jeden Fall viel Glück und Erfolg dabei sämtliche Fahrradfahrer der Nation umzuerziehen. Ist bestimmt erfolgbringender als wenn die in dem Scenario gar keinen Grund hätten den Radweg zu ignorieren (wenn das überhaupt einer ist und nicht nur einer dieser 20cm “Schutzstreifen”).

Ah, gottseidank. Das macht die Situation natürlich vollkommen gerechtfertigt und entlastet den Staat vollkommen. Case closed.

It’s not. It’s entirely to be expected, because the focus of the vast majority of kernel development was not desktop usage. Gnome honestly has become quite good at implementing accessibility concerns and they take advantage of the desktop environment philosophy to do that, which seems to be what you expect distro developers to do.
Of course, if by “accessible” you mean “like Windows” since that is the most popular desktop by far, then everything that’s not Windows is going to suck for your usecase.

I also explained why it’s not all bad, so unless you have semi-recently used a desktop environment that tries to be accessible instead of catering to power users, then maybe you wouldn’t dismiss my comment with an unrelated rant about Darktable’s UI and C-nile Unix greybeards reordering their modules every couple minutes. Believe me, I understand the frustration of nearly every app UI being a thoughtless mess, but you’re acting like big-FOSS sold you Linux™ - the Desktop OS under the pretense of it being an accessible interface for even the most casual computer user.
I can rant all day too about Windows UI design inconsistencies if you want, like the most basic settings being split across 2-3 different generations of UI design in 2-3 separate levels of “basic” to “advanced” which you navigate to by clicking really inconspicuous blue lines of text, which are randomly placed on the bottom of a dialog page or in a sidebar to the right.
That’s why I’m asking, because if we’re being honest, all desktop OSes kind of suck at accessibility, leaving the heavy lifting to third parties, so I’m confused why the billion dollar product with the largest market share is praised for being the most accessible and “Linux” is apparently a fucking embarassment for not emphasizing accessibility.

And this whole thread started when I was expressing fear that AI-mania was overwhelming all of Microsoft’s prior first order concerns.
This discussion was started by me after someone called the Linux desktop accessibility a “fucking embrassment” and I responded very clearly to that specific point. I’m not interested in scoring imaginary points in some misguided attempt to treat comment sections like a team fight for/against the linked article or whatever.
My experience is with whatever Gnome-centered desktop ships with Ubuntu. It’s on a headless box that I shut off today for ¤reasons, so I have no clue what it’s called.
I have no idea what Canonical calls it either. It’s basically just a skin that makes Gnome look a bit more shit as far as I can tell.

I’m not sure what that statistic is supposed to be telling me, except that with the amount of participants, the amount of Linux users is within margin of error of the general desktop market share.
It already has improved. You’re just very ignorant in your idealism. I’ve used it at home and for work for at least 6 years now and the problems have honestly been way less than expected for an X replacement. Screensharing was probably the biggest hurdle initially, but even that has worked for quite some time now. The last remaining issues are pretty much down to individual applications.
You could not write an operating system even remotely comparable to Linux in that time with the ressources the Wayland devs had available.

You do realize how many animals PETA has euthanized? Hows that for “torture and murder of animals”? I stand by my opinion. PETA is at best ineffective and at worst an extremist organization doing their best to rack up controversies when they aren’t terrifying children, like attacking pet owners, stealing pets to immediately euthanize them, using the holocaust to push their message (ruled as “an offense against human dignity” in German courts), using the history of US slavery to push their message, pushing pseudo-scientific claims about autism or cancer, dressing up as KKK members, condemning people for using medicine derived from animals or animal testing, despite their VP using pig insulin. It just doesn’t end.
YAML is way too bloated of a standard and has a ton of inconsistencies between implementations, despite the widespread reputation of simplicity. It is easy to read as long as you limit yourself to a fraction of its capabilities and err on the side of caution when it comes to escaping characters (especially when number literals are involved, or booleans for that matter). As far as alternatives go, I prefer TOML for simple key=value configs, but it has its own issued and is nowhere near as featureful, for better or worse.
Cool attitude. In my experience, most docker/docker-compose setups will work transparently with podman/podman-compose. If you want to tighten security, lock down ressource access, run rootless (daemon and inside the container), integrate with SELinux, then you might need to put in extra-work, just like you would if you used docker.
Why re-invent the wheel?
They aren’t. Podman is mostly just a docker-compatible CLI wrapper around an existing OCI runtime (runc by default). It also lets you manage pods and export k8s yaml, which is arguably the more important industry standard at this point. Podman was also completely usable in rootless mode way before Docker support for that was on the table, which was the main reason I switched years ago. Podman development effort also yielded buildah, which is a godsend if you want to build container images in a containerized environment, without granting docker socket access (which is a security nightmare) or using some docker in docker scenario (which is just a nightmare in general).
You can set up an intrusion detection/prevention system, that logs/blocks certain traffic. If you do have public services running, you could block access based on location, lists of known bad actors etc. I guess you could argue that this is beyond the scope of a traditional firewall.
Most of those require some configuration out of the box and target power-users who are comfortable with manually editing text-based config files (or editing header files and then recompiling from source if you’re one of those people). One of Gnomes big selling points is accessibility, which none of the tiling WMs offer in any significant way.
The pacing is completely fucked most of the time, production quality varies over time (mostly because it’s spanning a decade now) and I wouldn’t recommend the show over the manga (which has none of these issues) aside from some key highlights, but I don’t think I’ll ever understand the disproportionate hate for the actual story of One Piece. Of the popular, long-running shonen series it has an original setting, a ton of world building and a romantic atmosphere. It’s not for everyone, but it does take an edgy contrarian to act like it’s dogshit with no redeeming qualities.
