SpikesOtherDog,

Does this also give 5 Eyes access to this info?

Jellyfin on Roku TV?

I’m interested in using Jellyfin. I learned that you can install the Jellyfin “channel” on any Roku device to stream to it. I have a TCL Roku TV and when I search for Jellyfin nothing appears. Also when I follow the link from Jellyfin’s website to Roku’s website it redirects to the main channel page and when I search...

SpikesOtherDog,

It works fine. My coworker said the older streaming stick did not perform well.

SpikesOtherDog,

The simulation theory is literally rejecting the old gods and creating universal system administrators as the new ones.

My biggest frustration of the simulation theory is the thought that things don’t exist unless you are interacting with them. This means that the universe revolves around the observer. The same thoughts that support simulation theory also support creation theory.

I believe that simulation theory also reinforces the idea that there are people who are NPCs who don’t matter. This is easier for people in power to believe who have people serving their needs.

I think this line of thought is most attractive to self-serving individuals who want to believe that everything in the universe exists for them and everyone else needs to either support them or get out of the way.

When people tell me they they believe that the universe is a simulation, my first thought is that they will treat others poorly because it doesn’t matter. In their perspective, the simulation will sort it out in their favor.

SpikesOtherDog,

Always has 👨‍🚀🔫👨‍🚀

SpikesOtherDog,

Potentially squishy and possibly dangerous depending on your infill setting.

The good news is you could custom order them with a flared base.

SpikesOtherDog,

It wasn’t bad. I was expecting a little more poking fun at the format, but it was earnest from what I can tell. I’d give it a 6. I was expecting a 4.

SpikesOtherDog,

I’ll bite. What printer drivers are 5G? HP universal driver is 22MB.

SpikesOtherDog,

It does it you want to be sure it is delivered!

SpikesOtherDog,

I’m sorry to say that when FMHY first shut down I migrated here, then never went back. It was my first foray into Lemmy.

SpikesOtherDog,

SHOULD. If they weren’t intrusive over what I’m trying to see, trying to mimic download links, tracking me at best and serving malware at worst.

SpikesOtherDog,

I have a couple of ideas. One is that variety promotes creativity. The other is that you might be thinking more deeply about your writing while you are away, but while you are forcing yourself to do it you are pushing it away.

SpikesOtherDog,

TLDR:

  1. Rains more than 20cm/6in
  2. Dams made of lower quality material were more easily overwhelmed
  3. Fast moving water with debris is quite destructive
SpikesOtherDog,

I would guess so. I’m running Mint on 15yo hardware. Chunky laptop, and DDR3 desktop. Between Mint and a SSD, the devices perform as well as current hardware on Windows 11.

SpikesOtherDog,

it makes things up, it makes no attempt to adhere to reason when it’s making an argument.

It doesn’t hardly understand logic. I’m using it to generate content and it continuously will assert information in ways that don’t make sense, relate things that aren’t connected, and forget facts that don’t flow into the response.

'One Chip Challenge' pulled from shelves after mother says spicy tortilla chip contributed to her son's death (www.nbcnews.com)

Paqui, the maker of extremely spicy tortilla chips marketed as the “One Chip Challenge,” is voluntarily pulling the product from shelves after a woman said her teenage son died of complications from consuming a single chip....

SpikesOtherDog,

If I recall, the chip I ate was a virulent green. I expect blue die made a yellow chip green.

SpikesOtherDog,

Not a bright color, dark and foreboding.

SpikesOtherDog,

It’s no good to hold onto goals that are beyond your means.

SpikesOtherDog,

Literal spam. Nothin says working for the man like playing a NFT Gacha.

SpikesOtherDog,

There is no problem connecting an iPhone to a PC. Generally, Apple requires iTunes to interact with the device, as they wish to restrict and monitor the way you interact with the device. There used to be a FOSS plugin that worked with Apple on Linux, but it was not stable when I was fighting with it back on the iPhone 5.

SpikesOtherDog,

Assuming it is not on the network, I don’t care what OS it runs. I’d like to see if I could run your OS on a virtual machine and give access to the hardware.

Does your scope give good resolution? How does it compare?

SpikesOtherDog,

What was with 90’s kids art and everything being broken and dirty?

SpikesOtherDog,

It is, but I’m thinking about how Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon in particular often seemed to have intentionally messy backgrounds.

SpikesOtherDog,

Don’t click on the links. Drive by downloads.

SpikesOtherDog,

I actually just started using it as a way to flesh out information for world building a tabletop tools playing game.

Not all the information tracks, but it is ok for brain storming. When asked to generate a character it gets things wrong. It invents skills and classes. When asked to distribute points it forgets about all the skills. It is best to give it a task of creating a background, but it is very bland and doesn’t go outside of certain ideas.

SpikesOtherDog,

Yes I agree! It is able to determine a classes’ primary stats and what it is weak at. I’m using it for PTU, which suggests multiclassing up to a maximum of 4 times over about 100 levels, so there is a bit of consideration when creating a npc. I’ll ask it to come up with a backstory, name, six suggested classes, and top 6 stats vs bottom six.

SpikesOtherDog,

Thanks for the insight on Ramaswamy. Are people down voting this because they don’t want to hear about the US presidential race, don’t like the content of the article, or are they reacting to the word woke in the title?

Also, I wasn’t aware that the term reverse racism was still being bandied.

SpikesOtherDog,

That’s silly. Not when there is discussion for increasing the scope of the death penalty.

–sarcasm intended–

SpikesOtherDog,

Back in '07 it was an easy entry into Linux and was praised constantly.

I’m not completely sure if they were the distro that started the trend, but the ‘Ubunufication’ of distros since then has made Linux easier to access.

It’s a shame that they began sharing telemetry and displaying ads to their users. As more distros break ranks for profit, like Red Hat and Suse, we will slowly see more techs accepting this behavior.

SpikesOtherDog,

This would be a gray area where technically they shouldn’t have it but no harm no fowl if they don’t share it.

SpikesOtherDog,

Does anyone remember Theranos? I’ll believe it when they provide objective results.

SpikesOtherDog,

We Americans can’t stand walking through the grocery store.

SpikesOtherDog,

If it is federally illegal then it will still be forbidden to those who interact with the federal government.

SpikesOtherDog,

I had thought it was specifically Greeks dunking on Syrian/Arabian because their language sounded like they were just saying, “Bar bar bar.”

Reading up a little more, it sounds more like it was their description of anyone who is not Greek.

SpikesOtherDog,

I have been playing with chat gpt for tabletop character creation. It’s not bad at coming up with new ideas. It is terrible at sticking to the rules of the game.

SpikesOtherDog,

That makes sense. The further back information would go, the harder it was to recall it. The answer wasn’t to think harder, but to fill in the gaps.

SpikesOtherDog,

It’s a tangent as the devs on an indie game are suspect.

SpikesOtherDog,

I attempted a home Linux machine about 7 years ago and had to give way over family needs. I’m now running mint on the next iteration of the family computer.

SpikesOtherDog,

I don’t see why not, but If it doesn’t you can just pick up where you left off with the original install.

SpikesOtherDog,

That’s funny because of how fast Nintendo is to do a cease and desist over their own IP.

SpikesOtherDog,

When I Gacha, I prefer to find the specific community surrounding it.

I suggest starting the community you want to see and posting your accomplishments as you go. This is coming from someone who misses their mobile game community.

'It’s like I’m worthless’: Troubleshooters investigate patient dumping allegations (www.wave3.com)

The Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, known as EMTALA, was passed in 1986 as a federal anti-dumping law. It mandates “patients who present to a hospital emergency department”… “must undergo an appropriate medical screening examination by a physician”… “to determine whether they have an emergency medical...

SpikesOtherDog,

I’m guessing they this is all about money. Is this something seen in countries with socialized medicine?

SpikesOtherDog,

Public modlog slows user but blank for what or why.

SpikesOtherDog,

I believe this is what you are referring to

cavernenergy.com

What is happening in this process is a cavern is pressurized with air and the air pressure is later used to run a turbine.

my Bluetooth thermometer kind of works in my microwave oven – is this a problem?

So I have one of those Bluetooth thermometers for meat and other foods. I heard it wasn’t supposed to work in my oven, because it’s a combination of a regular oven in the microwave. Since microwaves are supposed to be a faraday cage, it was my understanding that no radiation should be able to get out....

SpikesOtherDog,

I wouldn’t freak out just yet. Microwaves are known to leak radiation and interfere with radio communication.
