The simulation theory is literally rejecting the old gods and creating universal system administrators as the new ones.
My biggest frustration of the simulation theory is the thought that things don’t exist unless you are interacting with them. This means that the universe revolves around the observer. The same thoughts that support simulation theory also support creation theory.
I believe that simulation theory also reinforces the idea that there are people who are NPCs who don’t matter. This is easier for people in power to believe who have people serving their needs.
I think this line of thought is most attractive to self-serving individuals who want to believe that everything in the universe exists for them and everyone else needs to either support them or get out of the way.
When people tell me they they believe that the universe is a simulation, my first thought is that they will treat others poorly because it doesn’t matter. In their perspective, the simulation will sort it out in their favor.
A nightmare scenario previously only imagined by AI researchers, where AI image generators accidentally spit out non-consensual pornography of real people, is now reality.
I have a couple of ideas. One is that variety promotes creativity. The other is that you might be thinking more deeply about your writing while you are away, but while you are forcing yourself to do it you are pushing it away.
As per the title, I’m looking to find some titles to play with my kids, especially RPGs, as Baldur’s Gate 3 as struck the eye here but I’m not willing to fork the money for the graphics card required to run it....
I would guess so. I’m running Mint on 15yo hardware. Chunky laptop, and DDR3 desktop. Between Mint and a SSD, the devices perform as well as current hardware on Windows 11.
it makes things up, it makes no attempt to adhere to reason when it’s making an argument.
It doesn’t hardly understand logic. I’m using it to generate content and it continuously will assert information in ways that don’t make sense, relate things that aren’t connected, and forget facts that don’t flow into the response.

There is no problem connecting an iPhone to a PC. Generally, Apple requires iTunes to interact with the device, as they wish to restrict and monitor the way you interact with the device. There used to be a FOSS plugin that worked with Apple on Linux, but it was not stable when I was fighting with it back on the iPhone 5.
Assuming it is not on the network, I don’t care what OS it runs. I’d like to see if I could run your OS on a virtual machine and give access to the hardware.
Does your scope give good resolution? How does it compare?
I actually just started using it as a way to flesh out information for world building a tabletop tools playing game.
Not all the information tracks, but it is ok for brain storming. When asked to generate a character it gets things wrong. It invents skills and classes. When asked to distribute points it forgets about all the skills. It is best to give it a task of creating a background, but it is very bland and doesn’t go outside of certain ideas.
Yes I agree! It is able to determine a classes’ primary stats and what it is weak at. I’m using it for PTU, which suggests multiclassing up to a maximum of 4 times over about 100 levels, so there is a bit of consideration when creating a npc. I’ll ask it to come up with a backstory, name, six suggested classes, and top 6 stats vs bottom six.
In today’s newsletter: the 38-year-old entrepreneur has emerged as the most potent threat to Donald Trump in the GOP’s bid for the White House. But what does he stand for?...
Thanks for the insight on Ramaswamy. Are people down voting this because they don’t want to hear about the US presidential race, don’t like the content of the article, or are they reacting to the word woke in the title?
Also, I wasn’t aware that the term reverse racism was still being bandied.
Back in '07 it was an easy entry into Linux and was praised constantly.
I’m not completely sure if they were the distro that started the trend, but the ‘Ubunufication’ of distros since then has made Linux easier to access.
It’s a shame that they began sharing telemetry and displaying ads to their users. As more distros break ranks for profit, like Red Hat and Suse, we will slowly see more techs accepting this behavior.
I have been playing with chat gpt for tabletop character creation. It’s not bad at coming up with new ideas. It is terrible at sticking to the rules of the game.
