Skanky,

I think you just awakened something in me

Skanky,

Just wait until you visit a restaurant that automatically adds 18% gratuity then also expects you to tip on to of that.

Skanky,

Oh you sweet summer child. I’m not talking about the “large group” gratuity (which is also bullshit)… I’m talking about restaurants that are now adding an 18% gratuity for every bill - even if you just came in to have a drink.

Skanky, (edited )

Some restaurants are now starting to do this for every bill - not just for large groups.

If a restaurant owner won’t pay their staff enough without tips, that’s the real problem.

Skanky,

You’re right. Editing my post

Skanky,

Or getting baggage from the baggage claim at the airport

Skanky,

Did everyone forget Snowden already?

Skanky,

Man, you guys need to try harder.

Tide pod challenge

Saggin pants

Moustache tattoos on your finger

Punisher branding for showing how much of a “badass” you are

Upspeak, Valley girl talk, vocal fry

Any of these idiotic “pranks” that harm/bother innocent people

Licking ice cream in the grocery store and putting it back on the shelf (for the clicks of course)

Skanky,

I feel like upspeak and vocal fry are more prevalent in women (for whatever reason), but i think it’s equally annoying whomever is doing it.

Skanky,

🎵 Oh, say can you goatse,…🎵

Skanky,

I bet it tastes like chicken

Skanky,

…there are also those moderate R’s causing problems because they see the rest of the caucus as too conservative

If by “too conservative” you mean “MAGA cultists”, then we agree

Skanky,

Yes and no. Kind of the same deal as the what the TSA does. Your luggage will get scanned via X-ray or whatever, then it’s up to the person looking at the monitor to determine if it needs to be opened or not.

Skanky,

Make way… Boss-Extrude coming through!

Skanky,

Would you rather see another close-up image of majorie Taylor Greens horse face?

Skanky,

Isn’t this exactly how Skynet was created?

Skanky,

Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute…

Did she possibly meet him in said bar?

Skanky,

Try flipping it around and inserting it from the other end

Skanky,

Let me just point this out: He wasn’t arrested for hanging Nazi shit…

He was arrested for not getting permission first.

While i absolutely abhor these people and what they stand for, arresting people for displaying their abhorrent message is definitely not good either.

The fact that they didn’t get the correct permits prior just shows how absolutely stupid they are.

Skanky,

That’s not an option for the common soldier. Welcome to Russia.

What are some commonly known facts that are too bizarre for you to believe to be true?

For me it is the fact that our blood contains iron. I earlier used to believe the word stood for some ‘organic element’ since I couldn’t accept we had metal flowing through our supposed carbon-based bodies, till I realized that is where the taste and smell of blood comes from.

Skanky,

Probably one of the most memorable and pivotal moments in my life was when my college professor showed us the origins of relativity and how Einstein came to the conclusion that E = mc^2

It’s a proof that only took about 10 minutes to explain, and the mathematics really aren’t that difficult to understand by most people. The geniuses in the fact that Einstein started by explaining how calculating relative motion meant that time had to be a variable that could be different depending on who the observer was. This in itself is an incredible observation, but you can take this to the extent to literally prove that mass and energy are directly related to each other. It’s absolutely wild and one of the most sublime equations ever made.

Skanky,

Motorcycle riding, done the right way.

Bought a decent street bike to start on, learn the ropes for several years, had the occasional mishhap or two which I fixed by myself. Still, cost money to fix things right?

Upgraded to a proper sport bike and realized how much fun it is, also with a new level of danger involved. Still, I wasn’t an idiot into things right. Bought 100% proper gear, including a track suit, good helmet, gloves, etc. as any motorcyclist knows, you’ll eventually drop your bike, which I did. Again, fixing it yourself is certainly an option, but also again, it cost money.

Then, I made the mistake of going to my first track day. They will allow you to use your own motorcycle as long as you prep it correctly and have decent tires and safety gear. This was an absolute game changer, and I was hooked harder than a heroin addict with an unlimited bank account. Unfortunately, I am neither of those two categories, and track days only get more expensive the deeper you get into them. First of all, they are not cheap to begin with. A decent track day will set you back 300 to $500 just to get on the track. Then, to really get the most out of it, you should have true racing tires with tire warmers. Then there’s the matter of getting your bike to the track, race fuel, a place to hang out, etc etc etc. The list goes on and on.

Skanky,

You know what the right does better than the left? Vote.

Let’s change that first.

Skanky,

Screechy? No.

Boring? Yes.

Skanky,

Yeah, I’m one of the cursed. Sucks because i really love all kinds of wild food and i feel like I’m missing out on some great dishes.

Skanky,

The mold is where the flavor is

Skanky,

Good. Now, with any luck, he’ll heal up so he can go back to prison scared and live in fear of his next attack. And with any more luck, that will happen again, and again, and again, and again…

Skanky,

Wells Fargo? The bank you can trust? I’m shocked!

From wiki:

The company has been the subject of several investigations by regulators. On February 2, 2018, account fraud by the bank resulted in the Federal Reserve barring Wells Fargo from growing its nearly $2 trillion asset base any further until the company fixed its internal problems to the satisfaction of the Federal Reserve.[10] In September 2021, Wells Fargo incurred further fines from the United States Justice Department charging fraudulent behavior by the bank against foreign-exchange currency trading customers.[11] Bloomberg Businessweek reported in March 2022 that Wells Fargo was the only major lender in 2020 to reject more home refinancing applications from Black applicants than it approved.[12]

In December 2022, the U.S. levied a $3.7 billion loan-management fine upon Wells Fargo. In March 2023, Wells Fargo blamed a technical glitch for misstating the balances of customers’ accounts, in many cases incorrectly deeming the customers as having a negative bank balance.[13] Subsequently, in 2023, prison sentencing took place for employee-directed money laundering and funneling cash illegally to Mexico through the creation of fictitious accounts.[14]

Skanky,

The $20 one-time fee is to remove ads from the “standard” app.

The subscription pricing is for Sync Ultra, which has Cloud backup for settings and some more advanced features in addition to no ads.

Skanky,

The 3d modeling software i use (SolidWorks) did he exact same thing with their user formums. They used to be an incredibly rich resource for troubleshooting problems and finding creative ways to solve design problems using their software. It was truly something special for professional users of this software. The forum was public and Google searchable.

Then, Dauuault Systems (the parent company of SolidWorks) walled it off for everyone except registered users, which I believe requires a valid license of their software. Guess what? Very few people use it anymore, especially me.

Skanky,

Would you mind clarifying your standpoint on what should be done in case a woman is raped and becomes pregnant? You kind of glossed over that part of it. I understand that you want to prevent the number of pregnancies due to rape, but what exactly do you propose when that happens? Same for pregnancies due to incest.

It seems you already know most of what will actually help this issue, and it does include social programs. Does this make you a leftist? No, it makes you a realist. That is, unless you ask this question to most conservatives who will instantly label you as one. How dare you actually suggest something progressive!

Skanky,

Watchredditdie and trueonpopularopinion both became filled with ridiculous conservative crap.

But you are absolutely right about the entirety of Reddit becoming an echo chamber. That’s how it is with social media

Skanky,

3 for me. North America.

What I find hysterical is that there seems to be more one star ratings than five stars!

keep up the winning, Reddit

Skanky,

Been using SolidWorks for over 20 years.

This just isn’t true any more. Is SolidWorks buggy? Sometimes, yeah. But with the right machine and knowing how to model things correctly, crashes are rare. Maybe once every couple of weeks - and I’m using it 6+ hours per day.

The reason SolidWorks gets a bad rap (mostly from Reddit) is because the majority of posters are students with shitty computers.

Skanky,

Engineer here.

This chart seems pretty stupid. I mean, why??? Also, what’s the use of the X-Y graph in inches and millimeters?

Also, 3/4" converts to 19.1mm, not 19.0mm (19.05 rounds up)

And anyone who has tried to use metric wrenches as a substitute for the proper size imperial one knows this is only going to work for a couple of sizes. The rest are going to be too tight or usually too loose.

Are there even any imperial fasteners at all on any new vehicles today???

This chart be dumb

I designed a Material You app for Lemmy (lemmy.ml)

Hi everybody, I’m a UI/UX designer and I wanna contribute to the community here with my expertise. Here is a quick prototype for a Android Lemmy app with Material You Design, it’s a simple and customizable app. With this app, I also want to improve the experience when exploring different servers....

Skanky,

You misspelled “Connect”

(They’re both pretty good actually)

Skanky,

Grab the glass as the server is pouring the drink and then guzzle as much as you can.

Set the glad back down and tell them “you may now continue”

After they pour the rest, complain that they shorted you and your demand a refill for free.

Start going into convulsions when they say that’s not possible.

Run to the exit when they go get the manager.

Re-enter the establishment and claim that you’ve never been here before when they inevitably try to refuse your entry.

[Wristwatches] How a $260 plastic watch pissed off the entire watch community

Watch collectors are kind of an odd bunch. I’m talking about “dumb” watches specifically - watches that only tell time and don’t have any sort of smartphone connectivity or biometric tracking. Some of the fancier models might have a timer on them, but you’re certainly not going to be getting text notifications. Watches...

Skanky,

As someone who grew up in the '80s, when I heard Swatch I immediately thought of those inexpensive wrist watches that had wildly colorful designs and interchangeable wristbands. They were hugely popular and if you didn’t have 40 bucks to spend on one, you were not with the “in” crowd, mainly dominated by yuppies.

YSK: You should dry off beef before cooking. Doing so promotes the Maillard Reaction, which will make the meat taste and look better. (www.seriouseats.com)

Why YSK: When you cook meat, any water on the surface must first evaporate before much browning can occur. You want to get as much of a Maillard reaction as possible in the limited cooking time you have before the meat reaches the correct internal temperature. Removing the moisture first means that the heat of the cooking...

Skanky,

Why don’t you just cover the steak in those silica gel desiccant beads like a normal person? Weirdo.

Skanky,

That’s a weird way to spell "Sync"😂

Skanky,

Why, in this day and age, would anyone assume that your messages sent on any social media platform are private?

Skanky,

Here’s another way to think about it.

We can calculate what the change in volume of the chamber would be based on the difference in pressure when it collapsed.

Initially, at atmospheric pressure, the interior chamber contained about 5.6 cubic meters of volume. At the depth of the sub prior to implosion, the external pressure was about 3,000 psi. Once the walls failed, the interior volume was suddenly compressed from 5.6 cubic meters down to a miniscule 0.06 cubic meters.

Basically, the interior walls slammed in, compressing everything inside from the size of a small minivan down to the size of a very small fishtank
