I am tempted to make Kbin my daily-driver social media platform, as opposed to Lemmy now, as I really like the seamless integration of reddit-style Lemmy threads and Twitter-style Mastodon toots. But what is keeping me away right now is the lack of /instances, as it is provided by Lemmy. I want to make sure I can follow all the content I like to interact with and the current trial-and-error method required for Kbin makes it unattractive to me.

Ich widerspreche da. Ich vermute, dass die Interviewpartner sich ihrer Lage schlicht und ergreifend nicht bewusst sind, was allein daran schon festgemacht werden kann, dass sie AfD wählen.

Meiner Meinung nach sind die AfD Wähler von der instinktiven Angst gepackt, Zugriff auf überlebenswichtige Resourcen zu verlieren. Sie fühlen ihre Lebensgrunslage bedroht.

Dazu kommt das Gefühl keine Kontrolle zu haben, beziehungsweise keine Bestimmung im Leben zu haben. Auf vieles kann man, wenn man möchte, politisch Einfluss nehmen.

Ich glaube, man muss sich bei diesem Interview in Erinnerung rufen, dass Herr Rhein hier keine Analyse der von ihm geführten Interviews bietet, sondern diese nur im Wortlaut beschreibt.

Wenn man die Interviews analytisch auswerten möchte, dann kann man direkt die Aussage, dass die Interviewten keine Abstiegsängsgte haben, sondern sich schlicht keine Zukunft vorstellen können, zusammenstreichen. Die Angst vor dem Abstieg ist das Unvermögen, sich eine Zukunft vorzustellen, in der man seinen jetzigen sozialen/finanziellen Stand halten kann. Das Heraufbeschwören der Endzeit ist die selbe Angst, nur verstärkt, also die Angst, nicht nur nicht in der Lage zu sein seinen jetzigen Stand zu halten, sondern gar keinen Stand halten zu können, und in Wut umgewandelt.

Aber ich finde auch “die Angst vor dem Anderen/Anders sein” wird zumindest verstärkt durch die Befürchtung, dass man selbst durch diese Anderen verdrängt wird.

Ich finde es aus meherer Hinsicht richtig und wichtig, russische Kriegsverweigerer aufzunehmen. Zum einen zeigt man damit auf, dass man gegen den russischen Staatsapparat ist und nicht gegen die russische Bevölkerung. Zum anderen entzieht man Russland dadurch potentiell mobilisierbare Rekruten. Und man holt sich Leute ins Land, die tendenziell eher den eigenen Werten entsprechen, also gegen den Krieg sind.

Das Argument Polens, dass man sich damit auch russische Spione ins Boot holt, lasse ich nicht gelten. Die finden schon einen Weg ins Land, ob nun mit oder ohne Asyl.

Was, wie im Artikel auch dargestellt, dazu führt, dass die Asylanträger in Länder zurückgeführt werden, die Russen wieder ausweisen. Das ist nicht das Signal, dass man an russische Kriegsdienstverweigerer senden sollte.

Improved infrastructure and better access to education is not the win you think it is. Whether infrastructure and education is good or not depends on what you do with it. If you use your infrastructure to connect unruly provinces to your center of power in an effort to better exert control, then the infrastructure becomes a net-negative for the people on the receiving end. As an example, I’m sure nobody sane enough would claim that the US building the railroad was positive for native americans. Likewise, if you use your education to indoctrinate people, then better educational opportunities go hand in hand with increased oppression.

They failed in their thunder run, but the west is giving Ukraine only enough aid to keep surviving, not winning. I can speak for Germany at least, the political will to actually follow up on the “Zeitenwende”, as chancellor Scholz announced, is wavering. Apart from artillery munition, our government failed to order anything in large enough quantities to suggest they are working towards a more capable military, let alone increased support for Ukraine. No new tanks, no IFVs, only a small amount of air defense and fighter planes and no new artillery platforms. The military industry in Germany has not had large orders for any of the mentioned systems placed.

It’s just domestic politics, as usual. There are those within the government that want to spend less money on everything, there are those concerned about anti-war movements or general apathy in the population, a historic resistance against military buildup and the chancellor is unwilling to ruffle anyone’s feathers by actually committing to any rearmament plan. Half-measures are the name of the game.

They named reddit “stormfront”, to insinuate that for them, reddit is filled with nazis. Though maybe they meant stormfront.org, a place filled with actual nazis.

Der Unterschied zwischen Gesetze zu formulieren, die in die gleiche Kerbe schlagen wie Gesetze, die davor schon als illegal abgelehnt wurden und tatsächlich Straftaten begehen ist, dass man für Straftaten belangt werden kann. Das gleiche sollte für Ersteres auch gelten.

Das wird auch nicht mehr passieren. Soweit ich den Überblick über Lemmy’s Funktionsweise habe, versucht dein Server genau ein mal deinen Content zu teilen. Das ist auch meine Meinung. Lemmy ist als Reddit Alternative angetreten und wenn man sich die Nutzungsstatistiken ansieht, dann sind auch die allermeisten Nutzer auf der Suche nach einer Reddit Alternative hier gelandet. Aber mit den ganzen Deföderationen ähnelt Lemmy eher einzelnen Foren und kann somit nicht mehr diesem Anspurch entsprechen.

Day wird sich auch wohl erst ändern, wenn es soft-Deföderierung gibt, man als Admin den eigenen Server anweisen kann, Posts von anderen Instanzen zu spiegeln und stattdessen die eigenen Nutzer direkt mit den anderenInstanzen interagieren lassen kann.

The issue isn’t migrants themselves, at least not as long as the number of migrants isn’t overwhelming, the issue is that the economy in most countries has become too lopsided. Too many people feel that their livelyhood is already under threat and they will absolutely reject the notion of letting even more people come in and compete with them for resources.

Verständliches meme, aber ich finds immer unschön, wenn man alle Politiker partout als von der Wirtschaft gekauft abstempelt. Mit solch einer Einstellung wendet man sich nur von der Politik als Ganzes ab und überlässt somit denen, die sich der Problematik unbewusst sind oder selbst Teil des Problems sind, komplett das Feld.

Ich persönlich empfehle da Kanäle wie Jung und Naiv, die sich mit Politikern kritisch auseinandersetzen.

Sure, the US is bad. But to insinuate that the US is equal or worse to Russia or China just doesn’t track. In terms of LGTBQ, while in the US they gain rights, in Russia their rights are cut.

And as for coups, I won’t defend the US getting involved in the middle east, but I will say that Afghanistan has impressively shown that the US occupation help women’s right for example.
