I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds
I loved it, and I’ve watched it several times. I just enjoy fun popcorn action movies these days, though, so I tend to be more a fan of this type of movie than most. I loved the cast and the chemistry they had and wanted to see a sequel.
One night, I stumbled on a website posting the thoughts and words of Joseph Duncan, who killed a family in northern Idaho. As well as others in other states. He was on death row and wasn’t allowed internet access, but he was getting his words out there, and someone was posting for him.
He went into many details of what led to those Idaho murders. Things that were never mentioned in the press. How he came to be there and very intimate details of that night and things that happened after. It was not easy to read, but I had this weird sense of obligation to continue once I started. Like I would be doing the family a disservice if I didn’t read what they had gone through that night. Sounds weird, I know. There are certain scenes of it that I’ll never get out of my head.
When he was caught with the lone survivor, he had kidnapped (kidnapped two but killed the boy not long after), I was just down the street at a different restaurant. I had just moved to the area when the murders happened.
He also went into detail about him taking and killing a boy in southern California, which was near where I grew up.
I don’t remember the website name, and I imagine it is gone now since he died of cancer in 2020.
Though a quick look, looks like his actual details that I read are scrubbed. Will check further though.
I remember there being separate sections or possible a link to other stuff. Been awhile, so hard to remember. Not even sure how I stumbled upon it anymore. Must have been in a true crime reddit thread.
Wondering if whoever maintains it took down his actual writings.
This is how I’ve used mine almost 100% of the time. I got it because a gaming laptop I had was getting a bit old. I use the Deck like I used that laptop. Moving from room to room as needed and hooked up to a TV in each.
I’m stuck in bed some days, so having something that is easily moved like the Switch has been great.
Not video game related, but I was teased a lot growing up because I was always the shortest kid. This one guy would constantly call me an Oompa Loompa. His problem though, I had never seen the movie, so I never had a clue why he was calling me that. Because of that, it never bothered me and that would frustrate him quite a bit. Eventually he just gave up.
It was actually what finally got me to not take any of the teasing seriously and what showed me ignoring it all was the easiest way to deal with it and get it to stop.
I agree with you and coming from a different perspective. I’ve tried the games and they just don’t do it for me for whatever reason. I don’t see this flopping at all. I also think recent launches will make sure they have things ready to go. It will sell like crazy and the fans that love the games will love it I’m sure.
Two of my coworkers frequently mention shows like “Encounters” or “Ancient apocalypse” or whatever. I’m not the best at debating or forming arguments against these though I do feel strongly that bold claims require better evidence than a blurry photo and an eyewitness account. How do you all go about this?...
I’m with this. Unless it is about work, let people believe what they want. Or else you end up discussing a lot of stuff like religion and politics in a place it doesn’t need to be.
I can’t get it to really play at all on Steam #eck, though I’ve heard others do. Mine either doesn’t load or crashes soon after it does.
I haven’t had a chance to see if there have been any further controller improvements since the Deck is my only way to play it currently. I hope they continue to try to refine it. They definitely made improvements from how it started.
I’m traveling with family this weekend in a touristy place and have been out in public in crowded areas. I am really shocked by the number of people who have loud, personal conversations on the phone in speaker mode. This ranges from walking down the sidewalk, to in line for washrooms, to seated restaurant dining....
I don’t even like taking a call or listening to other people take a call in the same room as I am. I always leave the room for privacy. In a home environment at least, could deal with it in a work environment. So I really don’t get it for those that do it in public.
I have a ton of hours in the game and didn’t even realize it was always online. That is how little issues it caused for me. But it is definitely good for this to happen.
I’m with you that I don’t have an issue with them not being a big fight. That would slow down an already slow process if you try to get them all before moving to another NG+. I think one thing that would have helped is having Vlad give more than one at a time. Going back and forth constantly when that is all you’re doing before moving on makes it feel tedious for sure. Though probably less so for me than many gamers.
I wouldn’t even just binge doing those if we took something with us on each Unity jump. At least credits if nothing else. I’d mix in more stuff, but right now that feels like a waste until I finally get to a point where I just want to play through it all and no longer go through the unity.
There are some in the systems that the artifact missions take you on, so they will pop up as objectives when you enter the system or land on a planet. Or probably when I scan planets. Not sure which. I always just consider them happy little accidents. But always nice when that happens because on my current run I found three like that, which made it a bit quicker than running back to Vlad for those.
A federal court judge in Ohio denied Friday an attempt by the US Chamber of Commerce to immediately stop the Biden administration’s implementation of Medicare’s new drug price negotiation program....
I’ll speak on one from personal experience. I have been on a med most of the last 20 or so years for a chronic illness. I believe the drug hit the market in 1997 and as of 2018 was still making the company 1.7 billion dollars a year. That 1.7 was actually 44% lower than in 2017. Looking briefly now it is finally taking in less than 1 billion a year, but still 800 million. It isn’t dropping in revenue because they lowered the price. It is because other meds have been introduced so they have a lot more competition.
There was even an event where press asked the CEO about having made back their development costs and then some, which he agreed they had, would they then lower the price? He said there was no reason to lower the price as it was a huge revenue source for them.
Over 20 years later the costs for it continued to climb rather than lower. Costs for it estimated at 10k per patient in 1997 and around 70k now per year.
Their official statement says they are creating another group (without Unity in the name) that will cover any game engines. Which they specifically mentioned Unity, Unreal, and Godot.
All those games may run fine for you, but you’re still missing day one patches for most games. Maybe even some content you wanted and didn’t realize was even there without being online to download patches and hot fixes. Also more and more reports of console discs not having any data on them and just being a code to allow you to download the game.
I’m not saying this is a good thing, but it is the reality of gaming today.
That last sentence is so spot on. After reading a topic yesterday, I was trying to think of one time a game company went public, and it ending up a good thing for the gamers in the long run. If anyone knows of one, I’d love to hear it.
I don’t disagree. But these days going gold doesn’t mean the same. They all seem to take the last month or two to still iron things out before it really releases.

What phase 2 specifically if you don’t mind sharing? They mention in this article starting with a phase 1 for celiac and then a phase 1 for MS.
I’ve also seen so many of these over a couple decades now. I have RA and MS and often times while hope can be important. As Red said, hope is a dangerous thing and can drive a man insane.
Over the years you learn to pick and choose which ones to even read about.
My favorites are when actual new meds are introduced to patients and the majority of the article talks about how much money they expect it to make for the pharmaceutical company.
Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to respond with more info.
I wasn’t expecting much so no worries and not expecting anything soon. I’ve seen these things for a couple decades now. But this one is interesting. So again thank you.
I’m a fan of the word Cunt as a term of endearment after having a few online friends from Australia over the years. Shame you can’t really use it much in the states in such a way.
That is how I feel. I’ve put so many hours into their games. If you like their games chances are you enjoy this one. The differences for a new IP are great, but much of the feel is there.
I didn’t think I’d be able to play it for quite awhile since I don’t have anything that can play it right now. Then I realized game pass can be played on some Samsung TVs and mine is one. Was worth the $17 to try it out and for the most part it has ran great.

Aren’t many of the hard copies for games now still needing huge downloads? Even to the point where some there is no data on the disc, only the key that says you own it?
Horizon’s story stuck with me for a few weeks after completing it. Also one of the few games I played all the way through without playing other games as well. I usually have to play a few different games so I don’t get burned out of any one game.
I agree on the God of War games as well. So well done.

Considering how detailed he was 20 years later on some of the stuff, I doubt that. This guy got off on those memories. Plus he was caught because he couldn’t help himself and liked the attention years after his last killing.
I think some of these guys just don’t want the further trials and probably see no benefit to admitting anything more. Maybe that is where he is at. Or maybe he just wasn’t involved. Though the police should investigate it still of course.

It doesn’t happen often, but I do this for people in my life occasionally as well with online. I type out a whole response that I would want to say. Then I delete it without sharing it. It is often enough for me to realize it just doesn’t matter and it is better to move on.
