“Austria wants to say it has resolved the problem, while fully ignoring the larger issue, and to get rid of refugees, by dumping them in Bulgaria and Romania.”
I see what you’re trying to accomplish and congratulate you for trying to make Lemmy a better place, but I don’t think it’s a good idea. As many people here I’ve blocked @bot precisely because it just posts Reddit content and floods my feed, with what is basically spam. Also many people came here just to avoid Reddit and to try and make something better. Sure, when 0.19.0 comes out and people will be able to block instances, lemmings will have a choice if they want to see that instance, but what about new users, or people just checking Lemmy out? Do we really want them to see reposted reddit content? Because they can already do this on reddit. What we need is to stop being so invested in “our ex” and just grow as a community, in a natural way.
It’s seems like you ignored my point entirely just to argue on a technicality. As I asked, should Reddit content reposted by bots be something a new user should see?
Also browsing /all is a great way to discover new communities, but even if you don’t browse it bot communities find their way into the discover communities tab, which makes it more difficult for people find the communities that they want to follow.
Memes are meant to be shared, and it’s a great way to grow small communities. Karma whoring is not that big here since reputation points are not shown (at least in the webUI). So a person will post a few memes and could start a conversation, something a bot can’t do.

I’m pretty attached to my username, sometimes people call me by it and I even have some nicknames originating from it. I use it in only four places, but I definitely feel it has become my default username as of recently.
It’s not we, this guy is the only person posting these political memes here. I hate blocking users but posting multiple memes a day trying to push your agenda is pretty annoying.
Is there a website that shows a list of dead instances and how long they were alive and why they died? I think that would be a cool website. It could be for Lemmy, Kbin, Mastodon, and everywhere else in the Fediverse!
There are some issues. I don’t think it’s right to call instances communities, it would just confuse people more. And why has it separated beehaw from lemmy?
Before I used to make a few comments a day, which is a lot for me, but now I find myself commenting less and less. The whole vibe is really different from a month ago. When I joined the fediverse I hoped we could make something better than reddit, and I still do, but there has been a rise in toxicity recently. Arguments are a good thing but most of the time they just result in insults being thrown.
I joined kbin on 10 June. I thought it was stupid to have a two-day protest and I figured I’d need something to replace reddit. Then I moved to lemmy on 23 June because it supported apps, after that on 4 July I moved to my current instance because .ml was having problems and that’s where I am now
I haven’t been able to subscribe to any communities hosted on kbin instances. I can see the communities, but they stay at “subscribe pending” and the posts never show up....
Personally I don’t have any problems with subscribing to kbin magazines. The only issue there is is that sometimes federation is a bit brocken and some posts appear a lot later on lemmy, and in rare cases they don’t even appear.
When I first started using Lemmy it seemed like such a nice place with interesting discussions. It seemed like the first group of people to join after the app exodus were being quite careful to be respectful of the existing culture....
I definitely agree. I pointed out that [email protected] is becoming more and more like AskReddit and I got downvoted and got these sarcastic and obnoxious responses that are typical for reddit
I think radical and hateful people should be called out but just insulting each other is going to radicalise them even further. The best way is to have a civil discussion and see the other’s pov, and when they can’t do anything but be an asshole, just ignore them.
My guy has a community for every decade from the 1900s. But seriously, you’re part of the problem, just creating those communities so you can be a mod in them. You can’t grow all 40 by yourself even if you wanted to.
How can I export my subscriptions?
Is there a way for me to export a list of the communities I’m subscribed to and import this list to another account on another instance?
