Back in the day, on other forums than this one, there were tags to differentiate between porn (nsfw) and gore (nsfl). This was nice for people browsing new that had no problem seeing tits, but wanted to avoid degloved hands....
Anything that could actually use the NSFL tag is probably illegal to have on a website. There’s a reason why best gore and live leak don’t exist anymore. Hosting that kind of content is going to cause a lot of legal issues. I’m guessing no sites want to encourage that kind of content by offering a specific tag for it
There are more countries than the US. Canada has obscenity laws for example. I’m sure other countries also have laws about ISIS beheadings and mass shootings being shared online.
I have no clue for music, but this reminds me of how people who work in animation tend to have masters and doctorates. The reason for that is because these people worked on creating animation software, something that needs computer scientists and mathematicians, and then transitioned into being animators.
Maybe people who spend a lot of time studying social and political science end up picking up a guitar?
He can spend all his money on legal fees. There’s nothing wrong with that. The Stormy Daniels issue was because it wasn’t a legal fee, he just lied and said it was.

Lemmy is Free Open Source Software allowing anyone to host a content aggregator website. Lemmy instances can federate with each other to make it look like one big website to users. It was created from the ground up to avoid corporate influence.
A group of people working together towards a common goal while doing their best to avoid corporate influence is probably going to be mostly liberal minded.
I don’t see much of an echochamber though, although that’s probably because I block a lot of it. I prefer a post have a well thought out argument rather than “lol conservatives dumb”. If someone had a well thought out reason for being against a liberal policy I’d give it an upvote. It’s just that these rarely exist. It’s mostly just reactionary comments.
A society in which it’s everyone for themselves, that refuses to care for one another, is no society at all. Then everyone acts shocked and horrified at someone who understandably snaps, like modern western culture doesn’t run entirely on schadenfreude....
I agree, but I’m not sure that’s an unpopular opinion. Most people who act like they don’t owe anyone anything seem to forget all the help they’ve received. Craig T. Nelson said it best: “I’ve been on food stamps and welfare. Anybody help me out? No.”
I mean, what has China done to earn a positive view? A lot of countries do their own “public relations” to improve their soft power. Essentially a country with a favourable image can win over foreign investments and negotiate favourable trade deals. Examples of that would be Thailand and Pad Thai (invented by the government who also pay for thai restaurants to be opened internationally), and South Korea and kpop which is heavily subsidized by the government hoping they can produce #1 hits internationally.
The opposite of soft power is hard power. Essentially threatening countries with military action and economic sanctions. China is very heavy on the hard power and it has ruined its image. They’re not the only ones. USA, Russia, UAE, all flex their hard power to get what they want.
People definitely don’t understand, but it might be people people like yourself.
a company as big as Wal-Mart has to do things like cut down expenses or lower wages a little.
Companies as big as Wal-Mart actually benefit from the economies of scale. Essentially, the larger an operation, the lower the expenses per item produced. Wal-Mart’s operating costs are huge, except if you break it down per item produced. If you do that then their operation costs are far less than most businesses. That’s why they’ve been able to push out small businesses. There’s no reason for them to lower wages other than to be greedy.
They think it’s as easy as being sat in a position and all of the money the company is withholding is all in some giant vault, that’d be withholding billions that they can distribute or something.
It literally is. Wal-Mart’s own balance sheet shows they have $10.5 billion dollars cash on hand. That’s literally $10.5 billion sitting in a vault. Companies do this because it’s good for their stock price.
You’re also skipping over the fact that the highest earners are shareholders, who don’t even work for the company. CEO and executives make way too much money but at least they actually work (they don’t work 1000 times harder than a minimum wage employee, but they do deserve some compensation). Shareholders sit at home and make millions from doing literally nothing, and companies cater to them instead of the labourers doing the actual work.
So yeah, the hate is justified. The downvotes are probably because you’ve inadvertently parroted the same talking points that executives use to defend their greed.
He can call himself “doctor” but he can’t practice because the regulatory authorities took away his licence to practice specifically because his show breaks so many of their rules. Even Dr. Oz never got his licence pulled.

TL;DR: My father in law (FIL) passed away recently. I visited him a few days before he died and he confessed to knowing where some bodies are buried and wanted me to help make it right....
I’m in Canada where hundreds of bodies of native children were discovered. Nothing changed except people are now more upset. I’m guessing even if there are bodies buried there nothing is going to happen with them, which is probably why police don’t care.
Say a user doxxes someone, uploads illegal material, or uploads copyrighted material; what is the extent the responsability of instance owners/admins when it comes to what users post?
Legally speaking? I believe webhosts are required to remove illegal materials whenever its brought to their attention. If a site owner keeps the materials online after being told to remove it, that’s when they can get in trouble.

I certainly don’t miss all the exploits, viruses, and general lack of security. Security and privacy online are very recent. Back in the day, everything was transmitted in plain text and browsers and extensions were full of holes that were easily exploited. Your computer could get a virus just by opening a webpage.
Roiland, whose exit from the Adult Swim series was announced in January in light of domestic abuse charges, had voiced the title characters since its 2013 launch.
Charges dropped by district attorney due to the case not having enough compelling evidence to secure a conviction. Not exactly cleared, the prosecutor just didn’t think they could secure a conviction.
“Hey man, you’re being kind of loud, could you keep it down?”
“On the quiet-loud spectrum I’ve lived most of my life towards the center, maybe even leaning more towards quiet, but all these people asking me to tone it down has caused me to shift my views heavily towards being a loud asshole. This is your fault for impossing all these rules and restrictions on my life!”
Nobel created his prize because everyone knew him for creating bombs and he wanted to be remembered for doing something good. Awarding someone a Nobel prize for creating a giant bomb would be pretty ironic.
