GregorGizeh,

Did a school exchange with Serbia once (am German myself). The abundance of guns was jarring, I was welcomed to a night club by a couple armed bouncers, one of them open carrying a fucking ak-47.

Those mfs thought it hilarious to put a gun in my jacket during the security check, it was totally surreal being yelled at and held at gun point, even though they were just fucking with me.

GregorGizeh,

Openly then. Sorry I’m not that familiar with American assault weapon vernacular

GregorGizeh,

That I actually did know, but thank you for the context!

Just that I called it open carry when I meant openly, as in its totally normalized that a disco bouncer has a fucking assault rifle

GregorGizeh,

One of the reasons I moved to this instance was that during the first announcement .world didn’t want to defederate Facebook. That and the extensive block list, I can do that for myself thank you very much

GregorGizeh,

Also, is the huge influx of content really added value? I don’t use facebook and its offshoots because the content is irrelevant or ragebait. I certainly don’t miss it over here, and while users can individually block Facebook from their feed, as far as I know this doesn’t protect the user’s data from being federated to facebook unless their instance defederates them completely.

GregorGizeh,

Im pretty sure I wouldn’t run such a shitty program for so long.

GregorGizeh,

This is literally a dragonfly.

It’s a cool design, but definitely not very inspired or praise worthy.

GregorGizeh,

… do you actually get your news from social media?

GregorGizeh,

Perpetual horrors. It might be a sign of the times, or just the internet, or both even, but there is a notable increase in constant terrible news. Climate change and death and hunger and epidemic and wars and billionaires and fascism and so forth, it desensitizes people.

Years ago people were deeply disturbed by violence, now I can watch a random russian conscript shoot himself in the mouth after a drone strike destroyed his legs every other day and it’s probably not the worst thing I’ve read or seen on that day even.

Everything seems fucked, it’s hard not to become somewhat apathetic towards it.

GregorGizeh,

Can’t we just boot them from the fucking Union, all he does is mooch EU funds to build his private domain modeled after russia, or obstruct something everyone else wants to extort more money while his whole domestic politics play is to shit on the EU.

GregorGizeh,

Maybe in a twisted thought process: privatized public transport for the masses, and because the rich have no actual restrictions in reality, I’m sure they can drive a car if they want to.

GregorGizeh,

“To me, there is nothing more intoxicating than the clear absence of a penis.”

GregorGizeh,

GregorGizeh,

Danke für das Angebot, aber leider nicht

GregorGizeh,

… whom are the greedy capitalists that ruin everything in this example.

GregorGizeh,

I’ll show this to my doctor later when I drop by for something minor and only slightly inconvenient that doesn’t really require a medical professional‘s eyes because I can do it for free. 🇪🇺🇩🇪

GregorGizeh,

It’s not totally free here either, I was mostly making fun of the Americans. We have a similar co pay system where you have to pay a small amount for most minor medications and treatments, up to a yearly maximum, beyond that it is completely free (you still have to do the co pay but your insurance will fully reimburse you for anything beyond the maximum).

For example, I had a nasty accident last year which broke my ankle in three places. The ordeal required ambulance transport to the hospital, multiple surgeries, MRIs, roentgen scans, various other procedures, several weeks of hospital stay, crutches and about a years worth of twice per week physical therapy and doctors appointments. Overall I paid maybe 200€ out of pocket.

GregorGizeh,

Not at all. Starfield is bland horseshit, this game had an extremely compelling setting even when it sucked. At this point it is a great experience with a lot of replay value due to the numerous choices and decisions you can make.

GregorGizeh, (edited )

Personally I really enjoy it. Phantom liberty (and the patch to the normal game) adds a new area that is basically a microcity in itself, with a really fun side story that even adds additional endings to the main game.

No story spoilers ahead:

The update also brings a lot of randomized content that helps making the city feel much more lively, for example you will encounter random gang shootouts or car chases, or if you pick on one gang enough they will hunt you down as well. The police is a lot more dangerous, and continued resistance will eventually earn you a visit from maxtac. They also got the city transit system working, you can ride by train from a to b if you want while enjoying the view.

Also, assuming you didn’t play at all since the 2.0 overhaul, they completely reworked the talent trees and skill paths, making them much more distinct and all around fun to play with. The loot and difficulty system is also overhauled, and will mostly scale to your level regardless of where you are in the story, giving much more freedom in what you want to do and when.

Then there is vehicle combat of course, with a wide range of armed vehicles to obtain, which is also pretty fun and useful.

Generally it feels much closer to what was promised. It might not be perfect, but it is in a fantastic state in my opinion, the only thing I really miss at this point is the holy grail of third person camera (with a working player model).

GregorGizeh,

I would definitely recommend doing a fresh save, it gives more opportunity to experience and play with all the new stuff than just rushing dogtown (the new district) with a max level save.

GregorGizeh,

Im kind of ambivalent on this.

On one hand, ~medieval times, which are usually the general era and technology level the average fantasy setting plays in, have no concept of disability and people who have one are usually ostracized and/or begging in the streets. Blindness may be on the more tolerated side of things, but deformities or developmental abnormalities are definitely not accepted. Also, if there is magic why wouldn’t they use it to cure it?

On the other hand, it’s a fantasy roleplay setting and the primary function is to be fun. So if everyone agrees it shouldn’t be a problem to have a scenario with it, more power to you

GregorGizeh,

You can be thicc in any subculture. Curvy women were never not attractive. What’s not attractive (nor healthy), even for supposed goth gfs, is being really fat.

GregorGizeh,

Works out pretty well for him, considering the west is just about done with caring about Ukraine and is dropping support across the board. Soon he will successfully claim the valuable parts of Ukraine he started the war over.

GregorGizeh,

Eh, actually there are arguments to be made for the employer being entitled to a share of the value, yes.

They provide the materials, the tools and machinery, the designs that are being made (assuming some sort of manufacturing company for this example). They also carry the risk (unless of course they are a corporation, the ridiculous entity created to reap the advantages of personhood while avoiding all its responsibilities and drawbacks).

So, a slice of the pizza should be for them, but certainly not 7/8.

GregorGizeh,

As someone not affected by this, I am curious. Are gay people offended by this song? My guess was no because the lyrics are making fun of the people who called them that, but now I am uncertain.

GregorGizeh,

By that logic black people cringe in pain listening to every other hip hop release for including that word. Which I also doubt.

Point being, radio stations censoring themselves preemptively because someone, somewhere, might take offense isn’t a good indicator of how the affected people actually feel about it.

GregorGizeh,

How is that in any way the same thing? I wouldn’t call a black person the other word either, in music or art it’s fine though.

GregorGizeh, (edited )

Nah I get it. I’m just not interested in adult cartoons, Rick and morty is similarly dead to me.

When it was first released it was refreshing to watch a show that’s done with the tropes and storytelling, but the novelty wore off pretty quick and now I’m tired of jaded, unfazed, snarky cynics who take nothing serious. Get off the screen, get a fucking therapist you dysfunctional asshole.

I much prefer real Trek, things that inspire hope and wonder, things that make me think of philosophical dilemmas, things that make me dream of a mankind not doomed to destroy itself.

GregorGizeh,

And even after the bungled launch they not only delivered much of what was promised, they still managed to make an extremely memorable game that outclasses many other rpgs.

Looking forward to any further content in the setting, be it more dlc or a cyberpunk 2080, with multiplayer support would be the dream.

GregorGizeh,

This is North Korea. Why would they turn women into cattle, the consequence of disobedience is death and/or labor camp for them and any family anyway. Also I’m sure a significant part of the population is indoctrinated enough to just comply.

GregorGizeh,

That is not a flattering haircut

GregorGizeh,

Just so you know, StarCraft 2 is free to play now, including the terran campaign. It even has a more relaxed co-op vs ai mode with a lot of replay value for the people who can’t put up 300 apm any more in competitive play.

GregorGizeh,

Yeah that one is also fantastic. It’s called StarCraft: Mass Recall and is also completely free

GregorGizeh,

Stop defending terrorists dude

GregorGizeh,

Against a former Muslim, who fled a Muslim led country because of their Muslim laws. Telling them they’re a bigot for hating Islam is fucking condescending, white savior syndrome.

GregorGizeh,

GregorGizeh,

Not really worth it in my opinion. It’s just not an engaging game. I got a free copy, but played maybe 30 minutes before I got too bored.

GregorGizeh,

The distinction is if it is officially sanctioned by the union. The company or its employees for that matter can’t just go on strike for belief reasons, they do it properly with their union backing them. Also it’s not that they simply refuse to work, they do their normal jobs but simply do not process Tesla deliveries. Everything else gets delivered fine.

As a german I love what is happening and I am really envious. While we do have unions too and they aren’t completely useless it would be so much better to have them negotiate like this. True, economy wide solidarity instead of our way of strike, pausing just one type of job in one sector, with plenty of accommodations for the companies to make it not as urgent to yield to the workers. We can’t even legally do a general strike. Fucking bullshit

GregorGizeh,

Westwood studios. Command and conquer tiberian sun was my very first computer game, which I loved dearly (and still have on my computer since it’s freeware now and has been fan patched for modern systems)

Well and then came EA.

GregorGizeh,

Yup, it’s Freeware since a few years now and has even spawned a brilliant standalone mod using its engine. Here is the link:

www.moddb.com/mods/tiberian-sun-client/

And if you want to check out the mod I mentioned, it’s called twisted insurrection. It delivers on many things that were lacking in the original, and has an extensive OST with some pieces by frank klepacki himself (made a lot of the music used in the original series). You can check out some trailers on YouTube. Mod Link:

GregorGizeh,

Supposedly the federation is a lot more diverse than humans with weird ears, noses or foreheads. Just that the old shows did not really have the budget and / or ability to make convincing, actually alien looking species. TAS can get around this by being a cartoon, modern shows use plenty of animation.

But even in TNG is a running joke about the cetacean officers that are always off screen of course. But supposedly there is a whole part of the ship under water where intelligent dolphins are doing their duties as crew members.

GregorGizeh,

I don’t know the episode name, but I recall them being mentioned during the metamorph episode, I think she is named kamara or something.

At one point the ferengi (who try to steal her and have infiltrated the ship for that purpose) try to chat up captain Picard and the ambassador who is caring for her, Geordi takes them away to “show them the dolphins”.

GregorGizeh,

Ah right, thats a great example too. Also the elusive tholian ambassador who is referenced a bunch of times

GregorGizeh,

So you whipped up a whole fictitious little story in which I’m the evil reactionary based on me being anti theist? Okay then.

And just for the record, you comment also illustrates perfectly the cognitive dissonance employed here. A muslim immigrant that is proud of their muslim heritage isn’t brave or admirable, it’s the same dumb shit as any german christian who would try to argue that.

I don’t want people to feel free to be ultra conservative religious quran thumpers because we are so liberal and tolerant. I want them to be taught that this shit isn’t welcome here and if they want to be they have to leave it behind.
