You know that someone can agree with most things in a platform and hate other things about it right?
The fact that they said they’re not anti-lgbt instead of saying they’re pro-lgbt implies that lgbt issues in general are lower on their list of priorities. They may not agree with the anti lgbt stuff but it isn’t important to them anyway.
They’re a Republican. They don’t view LGBT issues as a human rights issue in the first place. It’s a political issue for them. Hence why they can reconcile that their opinion vs the party platform.
Again, that’s why they said they’re not anti-lgbt rather than saying they’re pro-lgbt.
They can disagree with the Republican Party on LGBT issues, because it’s a political issue for them and not a human rights issue.
It just seems like you’re saying “political issue” but what you mean is “doesn’t affect them”.
Yeah, that is exactly what I said and what I meant. It was my point. Thank you for getting the point?
At some point it’s a forced choice, and sitting out isn’t really an option.
Idk, the fact that the Log Cabin Republicans exist kinda proves that it is. Even LGBT people can reconcile Republican ideals and their own LGBT identity. It’s much easier for someone that isn’t LGBT to ignore LGBT issues. And the majority of people wont have someone close to them be LGBT, making it even easier to not care about them.
Ok so if your choice was between a politician who made LGBT issues their priority but were against medicare for all/socialized medicine, and a politician that made medicare for all/socialized medicine their priority but were against LGBT rights, who would you choose?
Both are human rights issues. Which one is more important to you?
President Joe Biden announced Monday a $1.3 billion federal investment to build three new interstate power lines in an effort to upgrade the United States’ outdated electric grid and transition it to clean energy....
No, because the alcohol in a drink (ethanol) is still not a solution.
That’s not the original meaning either. The original meaning came from Arabic for a stibnite distillation used as eye liner. It came from Al-kuhl. It’s the same way that “spirit” came to mean a hard liquor. Distilling something down to its purest form was meant to harness the “spirit” of the thing.
A given spirit is a solution of alcohol and water, but alcohol itself is not. Which makes the whole “technically” part of the joke fall flat.
Bernie proved that the most vocal pussies online won’t actually show up when it matters. The DNC didn’t have to pull out any stops when single digits of eligible voters in the 18-29 group bothered to actually show up.
In every voting system, not voting is equivalent to a vote for the worst option.
That’s how democracy in general works. Even with ranked choice voting, if someone only puts candidate A as their choice because they disagree with everyone else, then their vote doesn’t count if candidate A is eliminated in the first round.
Not voting at all just lowers the threshold needed to win.
The people that care most about this were never going to vote in general. And with a significant majority of the population supporting Israel, there’s not really any option for candidates against it either.
And again, given that the majority of the population supports Israel, someone like Trump and Biden are going to be equivalent on the issue.
Only 13% say their sympathies lie with Palestinians in the war.
It’s really only Arab Americans that support Palestine over Israel. And more Arab Americans identify as Republican and would vote for Trump who is even more pro Israel and anti Palestinian. reuters.com/…/arab-american-support-biden-democra…
No, Hamas is a fucking terrorist group that hasn’t allowed an election since they staged a coup in 2007. They kill civilians and use civilian infrastructure as military strongpoints.
They just change the definitions when it suits them.
High capacity used to be the big 50-100 round mags. Now when they say “high capacity” they mean standard capacity 30 round or even smaller. Plenty of places ban anything over 10 or 15.

There’s no such thing as price gouging for unnecessary goods or services.
If you don’t think the good is worth that price, don’t buy it plain and simple. McDonald’s is not a necessity. They’re going to price their product according to what they believe the market will bear.
Seeing “pushback on some of their prices” is one of the most basic aspects of the market. Fewer people will buy a product at a given price, and McDonald’s will adjust the prices to the appropriate level or they’ll fail.
You’ve got 8 buns there so buying 4 more patties would take the whole thing to $28 for 8 burgers and cutting the danish into 8 slices which is probably the serving size anyway. Or $3.50 per burger and slice of danish.
And you grabbed the most expensive versions of things too.
It would be $5 a burger if they waste the other 4 buns in the package. They got 4 patties and 8 buns.
If they get another 4 patties it would be $28 total and about $3.50 per burger and slice of danish. Which is relatively cheap for everything they got. Throw in a head of lettuce, a tomato, and an onion and it might cost an extra $2 total to dress 8 burgers.
I mean you could at least read the article before making a low effort comment.
The design doesn’t put any salt solution near computer components, and it doesn’t use the same salt they put on the roads.
It uses lithium bromide, and given this is about large cloud computing server farms and not PCs, they still use heat sinks on the components, but the salt solution is used in a permeable membrane separately that the heat sinks divert heat to.
Oh no, I don’t trust Google at all. The only Google product I use is gmail and that’s just because it’s too convenient.
And you haven’t disagreed with me. You’ve just talked around it. You directly agreed with me in fact. Other companies absolutely pay top dollar for it. They pay Google to serve ads to people because Google has access to that data.
That’s literally Google’s business. Google is an ad company. Everything else they do is to support their advertising business. The entire pixel line is Google selling hardware to keep people in the Android ecosystem to collect data so that Google can sell ads.
They pay billions to keep Google search the default search engine on all of Android, Apple (Mac and iPhone), and windows, so they can collect data and sell ads.
Google is an ad company. Period. They don’t sell your data. It’s more valuable for them to know because they sell the damn ads. They have built their empire on being the sole proprietors of that info.
Buying data that Google doesn’t own is such a huge market because of the hold Google has on the market. You can only advertise according to Google’s terms and they’re relatively expensive. For the vast majority of legit companies, Google is the easiest platform as long as you’re also advertising on Facebook and other industry specific sites.
If you’re an unscrupulous group, then abiding by rules isn’t in your motto anyway so you need to build your own algorithms based on data that you can’t collect from a captive audience. So you buy it from the companies that do collect a ton of data.
Good luck with what? Replacing a battery at home is not that difficult on an iPhone, and it’s fairly cheap without AppleCare if you just go to an Apple Store. Covered if you have it.

I’ve heard about it all my life from mainstream Christian churches too. Though it’s more of a metaphorical thing than physical. Like it’s a supernatural reason why we can never get to Mars rather than being a glass dome.

Whatever you say dude. I know I had help. Virtually everyone has help along the way. If you have literally nobody that will let you crash on your couch, maybe you should look deep inside why nobody likes you.
Me living in my truck did take from my savings to pay bills. Half the reason I lived in my truck was not to be wasting money on renting some shitty apartment and draining my savings. I maintained a savings the whole time.
Keep complaining instead of doing something about it. It’ll guarantee you stay poor.
When I left the house? You mean when my parents drug habits caught up with them and we ended up homeless.
I didn’t live on anyone’s couch. I spent a day or two at most at a friends house at a time.
I had a few thousand saved up. And yes had a bank account where my pay was direct deposited or my parents would steal it.
You can wallow in your self pity and tell yourself that everything is luck or some bullshit to get out of helping yourself. That’s fine. I’m doing more than well now lol.
Why do you think that was one friend or something? That’s not living on someone’s couch.
And I have plenty of compassion for people actually trying to make their lives better. I have zero compassion for people that sit there and just blame everyone else, thinking they should get everything handed to them.
I haven’t been toxic. Toxic is the prevailing attitude online, at least on Lemmy, that nobody should have to work for anything and everything should just be free, never mind that someone has to actually work to make that shit they want for free.
Toxic is the attitude that anyone who isn’t working at a minimum wage job subsisting on ramen just lucked into it without any work at all
I am all for helping people. I have personally helped a ton of people that have needed it. I’ve given my couch, my truck, money, food, stuck my neck out for people for jobs, clothes, you name it. I love lifting people I care about up. What I hate is trying to help someone that just leeches off of others and gets mad when you cut off the help. And I’ve been around enough to see that most people complaining online are that person.
