ChicoSuave,

Gen z doesn’t get that and must notice it missing.

Can’t miss what you don’t know. And tribal knowledge getting passed around isn’t represented in movies or TV if at all, so where would they learn about what they don’t know to ask about?

What does work is having chat and email to document the tribal knowledge and pass that around.

ChicoSuave,

He was a darling because he was a literally unknown person who introduced themselves with a controlled media profile who sold a way to approach the fossil fuel problem. The nice thing about the left is their views evolve rapidly to current events and Elon has been inescapable in media, so naturally he reveals his true neocon form.

ChicoSuave,

Cool high jump. Too bad they can only do it once.

ChicoSuave,

What innovations have Bethesda been recognized for? What innovations should we acknowledge Bethesda for?

ChicoSuave,

Just like an idiot, the typical boomer doesn’t understand why the saying exists or why it was started. They focus on just the surface level, and assume the rule for usage is the same as the title.

ChicoSuave,

Much like Eskimo have 27 words for snow because they have so much exposure and have to denote subtle variations, Russians lumped a bunch of unused words together. World peace? Not in Russian!

ChicoSuave,

This feels like corporate shortsightedness; Apple sees a huge overlap in John Stewart and their own core user base so it seems like an easy win to give him a show that does the investigative journalism that endeared him in the first place. But then he start asking questions about the stock market and poking at potential investors and outside pressure is pushing internal executive conversations that eventually realize the millions they can make by keeping him on the air is nothing compared to the billions lost of investors start pulling out and draining the Apple stock price.

Apple’s only identity at this point is the billions it makes from an over valued stock price. Mr. Stewart threatened it. So capitalism happened.

ChicoSuave,

The one thing the Ukraine invasion taught me is that both sides lie to make the other one look worse. Reading this report makes it seem like the IDF desecrated bodies to make a dumb point.

ChicoSuave,

You wouldn’t trust a strange person so why should you trust a strange fart? Prune Vigilance Juice

ChicoSuave, (edited )

Thank god anon didn’t watch Breaking Bad.

ChicoSuave,

We know Tom and Jerry because it holds up and is funny now. Look at the other cartoons and see the quality difference. They are unfunny by today’s standards and probably not great when they were released.

ChicoSuave,

The trick is to ask what order to do each.

ChicoSuave,

That last one is a vibe and speaks to me.

ChicoSuave,

One day we’ll see ray tracing…

ChicoSuave,

What’s your favorite draft?

ChicoSuave,

If that’s how he treats his things, imagine how he treats those around him.

ChicoSuave,

Why did they storm the mosque? What would make them do that during Sukkot?

ChicoSuave,

The bone rot is what made me stop taking FUCKSTORM and BOTTOMTHROB so it’s a real problem. If they aren’t using prekalate silicoids to skip the bone rot then I have no idea how they get so much fuck speed.

ChicoSuave,

GabeN makes sequels like a half serious mom counting to 3

ChicoSuave,

Her fiance perspective is that there was an argument and the suspect storms off and murders someone. Like, maybe now is a good time to see you’re engaged to a monster.

ChicoSuave,

Rise is such an underappreciated gem of a show that also happens to soft reboot the Ninja turtle story and explores lots of awesome ideas like the turtles having 2 dads. It’s fucking fun and is only let down by it being yet another self contained 2 seasons with a movie to round it out. Netflix has the first season but the actual fight against shredder is 4 episodes long and will rip your heart out.

ChicoSuave,

I can clarify some of the Voyager hate, at least from the time. Part of it was absolutely the fact that women had such prominent roles in the show. The chuds have been around since the beginning of making and will probably be there at the end (in fact, they’ll probably be the cause of the end) and they hate anything that says other people are, well, individuals just like them.

But my gripes with Voyager are as a TNG fanatic who was amused by DS9 but hoping they go back to Roddenberry’s Star Trek. Roddenberry used to impose weirdly strict rules to how problems in the future would be tackled, such as having a mom die and show how their child would grieve and grow in a utopia. By DS9 authoritarian ideals took hold and the plots became about intrigue instead of solving humanistic problems.

By the time Voyager came out the sentiment that Trek was in freefall began. Paramount wanted to be Star Wars so now Star Fleet has rebels and warships that fight some underrepresented war all along the frontier with various one shot aliens who lack discernable variation. Trek quality had fallen from the imminently quotable TNG (darmak and jillad! Four lights!) to DS9 having good stories but lacking most quotability like TNG to Voyager having a good idea but lacking any Star Trek structure. It became Star Trek Fury Road as pivotal villains like the Borg are reduced to side characters and episodic hindrances. The fucking Borg took Picard. Wolf359 shattered Star Fleet. Then Voyager comes along and undermines all that by giving Voyager subspace tech that rivals The Travellers and solving the entire show with the ship equivalent of a weak fist fight. When once a cube was enough to guarantee a 2 part episode now it’s a mystery if a Voyager cube will make it to the end of the episode.

Voyager gets grief because it weakened the threats in the galaxy and made weak ass villains to replace them (fuck the undine) instead of building in any existing threat.

However, with the hindsight of 20 years it’s become evident that Voyager was the weightless fun before the freefall. Enterprise and Picard did a lot to sour the hope of many long time fans. The action in an episode is now the focal point instead of the culmination of a mystery that the crew has been trying to unravel. There is a rush to make a blend of Trek and Star Wars for a while now as media executives forget what makes their settings unique. Voyager was the first step in that direction.

ChicoSuave,

The movie budget is a great addition! It helps paint a clear image of the gap between the ideas of the movie maker and public reception.

ChicoSuave,

It’s not just America. The CCP specifically knew what American shareholders wanted and provided a cheap source of labor for foreign businesses. By depressing the Yuan the government kept prices for services low when compared to any domestic company. It was a plot started by ruthless executives looking to sacrifice anything for lower operating costs but it was recognized and abused when the Chinese government saw how to exploit it.

ChicoSuave,

Is that one plant with lighter leaf colors the one that had trapped roots?

ChicoSuave,

Kim Iversen is a right wing conspiracy nut who isn’t worth the time.

ChicoSuave,

Now there’s even less of the original wall.

ChicoSuave,

Yards are fucking awesome but monoculture lawns are the real invasive species. Add some clover and wild flowers! Cover the world in bee food.

ChicoSuave,

The famed Tiburon Escalera!

ChicoSuave,

Is he shopping for his final firearm? You know, the pistol that stops him from being taken to jail?

ChicoSuave,

Imagine going for a sandwich and a guard who wants to shoot a guy but has bad aim instead gets you. But it’s okay! He’s a cop/veteran who knows folks and will be let off with a warning. Because cops never get held accountable if they are shooting bad people.

ChicoSuave,

The man died doing what he loved, injecting nanobots into his veins and sweating for hours.

ChicoSuave,

Jokes on you, I’m into that.

ChicoSuave,

Italians have more words for pasta than Eskimo have for snow.

ChicoSuave,

You don’t get rich by paying for things.

ChicoSuave,

It’s because Larry Fish does everything right, makes the best possible moves in his situation, and still has problems. There’s a strong case to be made that Capt Miller is the one of the smartest protagonists in a horror movie and that’s why the movie is so haunting.

ChicoSuave,

The first 20 minutes and last 20 minutes are great. That guy who trapped them in the crucible was also great. Most of the rest of the movie was meh, influenced too much by other popular movies monster cliches at the time. I will always love that ending though. Didn’t expect the glass to crack and reveal that twist.

ChicoSuave,

Vader can sense Luke repeatedly throughout 5 and 6. Luke can sense Leia in 5 and 6. Vader can sense Leia at the end of 6. But no one ever asked why Vader couldn’t do it in 4. Hopefully this helps.

ChicoSuave,

The ancient city of R’yleh is rumored to be somewhere along the equatorial line. In ancient times was known as the torrid zone, an infernal place which claimed all the lives of those that cross it. Hurricanes are a force of nature and, since no two forces of nature can overlap (like a volcano during a storm or an earthquake and a flood) the hurricane can’t go where ancient ones dwell.

ChicoSuave,

Joe Biden has forgotten more than Trump has ever known

ChicoSuave,

The problem with CEOs like Riccitiello is he is so focused on making money that he doesn’t understand how to build a business. He is looking for existing processes to monetize instead of finding new ways to generate revenue. He’s unimaginative and it’s killing any business he runs. The people want to buy a product, not buy into a scheme.

ChicoSuave,

I specifically use it to get rid of night terrors. It stops me from dreaming when nothing else does.

ChicoSuave,

ASUS seems to think their ROG brand has a ravenous following that would ignore better hardware for brand loyalty. But the entire PC users segment they grab with their ROG label are also focused on performance using frames and milliseconds. Losing 2/3s of the power is like asking them to throw their money away. PC gamers will never be as brand loyal as they are performance loyal.
