I love Star Wars for its stories, but I don’t think a SW reskin is that interesting. There are a few places where I could see it maybe working because the SW setting could justify additional gameplay elements (city - > star system builders with a heavy automation and trade components, sekiro-like).
Instead we need SW games that tell their own stories well in a modern format. That does not mean a KOTOR remake. The bioware format had its time, but a remake in the same style is going to feel dated by the time it comes out.
While it’s true that a photon doesn’t see time pass, an electron does and they exhibit the same behavior in the double slit experiment. I don’t see how the particles perception of time explains the results.
Excess oxygen is actually harmful to humans, but all the climate warnings are about losing oxygen, not nitrogen edit: but when we look for habitable planets, our focus is ‘oxygen rich atmosphere’, not ‘nitrogen rich’, and in medical settings, we’re always concerned about low oxygen, not nitrogen....
I’m not fully aware of all the issues you reference, but my first guess is that oxygen is reactive and can be used up (apparently based on your statements, although I’m not familiar with that line of reasoning). Whereas nitrogen is not very reactive, so doesn’t get used up nearly as much.
When we breath, we use the oxygen, but we do not use the nitrogen. The nitrogen can actually be replaced with another inert gas and the “air” is breathable. Thinking about diving specifically, nitrox is actually an oxygen rich (nitrogen poor) mixture. More extreme mixtures use helium in place of some nitrogen (and sometime oxygen depending on the depth).
In your body, the amount of oxygen in our blood is critical for survival. Having a lot of nitrogen is actually not good. Too much is what causes the “bends”, again related to diving.
When looking at exoplanet atmospheres, we look for oxygen rich because it likely indicates water. We believe that planets with a high amount of water are more likely to support life similar to ours. It is possible that another form of life exists that doesn’t need oxygen or water, but we know for certain that oxygen and water can support life.
I have a TrueNAS server at home and thought I could easily connect it to my phone (Pixel 7) as a network drive but was surprised to learn that Android doesn’t have a built in feature for that....
I think this is a function that should be delegated to an app, so that users can choose from a variety of options. Having it built in would restrict that choice. Kind of like keyboards.
I think some phone manufacturers do offer a files app, I don’t know which ones have smb capabilities though. Regardless, it is an app, not a part of the OS. Also sounds like that’s how Apple implements it too, except they probably don’t let you use a different app.
It might be quick to get to a windows log in screen, but it still takes a long time to get back to a usable state, not to mention the state that you actually want it in (programs and files open, etc).
Having standby or hibernation was really great for this. Being able to put a laptop into a bag for 24 hours and then getting back to exactly where you left it was a very nice feature.
Sorry, can’t answer your question. Quick correction though, uranium is the highest atomic number that occurs nationally.
Edit: so I’m wrong about this. In school we learned that it was uranium and that’s also what it said when I checked sources, but not enough. Apologies.
Surely the warning is justified though? Yes it’s a hurdle, but it seems reasonable and other platforms also warn users about apps from unverified sources, so it is common within the industry. If the play store is determined to be a monopoly, and gets broken up or off, I think a warning would still be warranted.
The default install thing used to be an issue, i.e. MS Explorer, but people seem to have stopped caring since all OS’s now have pre-installed junk.
I guess the argument could be made thst the play store should allow downloading of other app stores? I’d be in favor of that, but I don’t know if the courts can force something like that.
Sophee Langerman was on her way to a bicycle safety rally in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood in June when a car turning right rolled through a red light and slammed into her bike, which she was walking off the curb and into the crosswalk....
I’m in favor of prioritizing safety, but if right on red is permitted, then it’s not optional. Just like going on green is not optional. Once you determine that you have the right of way you are expected to take it. This makes you predictable and safe.
Other drivers should be giving you a reasonable amount of time to determine your right of way though. You are also supposed to come to a full stop which should technically take about 3 seconds.
I read the full section, which is about right of way. It is consist with my prior statement. The summary you provided is the one that states that drivers have the right of way on red lights under certain conditions.
I’ve used Mint for many years. It has never worked well, its budgeting tools are inaccurate, and the UI is garbage. I guess you can say I’m not too broken up about this. I do very well with an Apple Numbers spreadsheet every month. That said, if there are other better options out there, I would consider them.
I switched to personal capital years ago because of the better UI compared to mint. Linking to other accounts also seemed to work better. Empower bought them a few years ago, but hasn’t enshittified the site much yet. I would still recommend trying it. The service is free, but they will try to bug you from time to time to change your investments.

The exclusives were how I used to justify a PS, but now that they are coming to PC after a year it makes that decision harder to justify. Particularly because they usually look better on PC and mods can be used, so as long as I can stand to wait I usually have a better experience on PC.

Think “you wake up in the woods naked,” Dr. Stone-style tech reset. How could humans acquire a 1-gram weight, a centimeter ruler, an HH:MM:SS timekeeping device, etc. starting with natural resources?...
There is a calendar that proposes to have 13 months, each with 28 days. That gives you 364 days. Day 365 is new years day and is not part of any month. There are still leap years because as stated, the Earth goes around the sun in 365.24… days. To not need leap years we’d need that to be a whole number.
Well pretty much everyone likes defining a day based on the position of the sun in the sky. While sun rise and sunset might change over the course of the year, nearly everyone agrees that noon is when the sun is the highest in the sky (ignoring day light savings and time zone effects). Turns out people don’t like it when noon occurs in the middle of the night (which would happen if we changes it to any other length of time).
Likewise, nearly everyone has agreed for millenia that a year is defined by earth’s position within its orbit. We know that based on where the stars are at night. Again, people didn’t like having snow during July (which actually happened because the calendar was so far off).
These are not definitions that we can change or have any control over. Additionally, the length of a year (to get earth back to the same spot in its orbit) divided by the length of a day (the time between the sun reaching its apex one day and the next) is not an integer and there’s nothing that says it has to be.
We can’t change it, so if thats important to you, you’ll have to find another planet to live on.
I’m personally not voting on your comments, but you are probably being down voted because you are either being purposefully ignorant or you are continuing to insist on a “better system” that is physically impossible.
Sure, in that scenario, such a system would be possible. Hopefully, there is still an earth to communicate with however. So we’d have to keep using earth days and years to enable effective communication. Also, the entire ship would have been built using earth based units, so it might be easier to use the system we’ve already got.

I think it adds another thing to do as you progress to the end game and finish the tech tree. The infinite research was good, but this will allow people to scale their megabases even further before the UPS drop chokes it.
I’m making some assumptions, but I think as you increase the general quality level of your production lines that it becomes easier (not easy), to get the higher quality items. Maybe I missed it, but I don’t think they stated what a higher quality intermediate product does (like a higher quality iron plate). My assumption is that anything produced with it has a boost to it’s quality.
If this is true, then by thoughtfully focusing on where quality is being produced and how high quality items are being used that it should be possible to get reasonable chances at “epic” items.
My point about scaling was that once you have a large supply of epic mining drills, assemblers, labs, etc that it will be possible to achieve the same SPM with fewer machines operating, and therefore could build a higher SPM factory to achieve the same UPS as without quality. You’re probably right that it will take awhile to get sufficient number of epic items to do this, but playtime for this game have never been small numbers.
This is by far the most reasonable and mature conversation I’ve ever had on the internet. I wasn’t even advocating for one side or the other, was honestly just trying to learn more. Thank you for being a good person.

I’m not the person as you replied to, but I hope to introduce some additional information which might answer your question in case it was genuine.
The OP of this comment tree advocated for originalism (“based on their original intent”) which up until about 20 years ago was generally considered incompatible with the responsibilities of a Judge. Typically, precedent is supposed to matter more than the laws original intent. Conservatives have been appointing originalists to the bench for a while now and it is leading to decisions like overturning Roe V. Wade. I can’t do a good job explaining it in more detail, but you can search for “stare decisis vs originalism” to find more information. The results may be political so use your own intellectual filter.
It’s possible that the OP didn’t know that this is an originalists argument, but that’s what the words currently state.
When the idea of self-driving cars first started becoming mainstream, I remember a lot of debate about liability. If an accident occurs, who would be at fault? I think a lot of those questions are still unanswered....
As of yet, AIs are not taking independent actions (arguably unlike the cars). So for now, I think the person using the information would be liable, just like if they copied and pasted information from a site. The individual is responsible for the actions they take, although they may not have the necessary intent to commit certain crimes.
Regarding the cars, it could be argued that the drivers are responsible regardless of the features of the car. But it could also be argued that the features malfunctioned, preventing the driver from safely operating the vehicle. The manufacturer will likely argue thst the driver was operating the car incorrectly, and they will spend millions manufacturing this evidence.
They address that at then end of the post. After all, the same developer is working on both projects.
Basic point is thwt they are targeting different audiences, but there will also be engine improvements. I’m hope that means SE just gets better because of these changes.

That’s a very sensationalist way to phrase your point and makes you sound fairly biased in the matter.
In the law, religious belief is a protected class, but dietary choice is not. A reasonable debate could be had about if it should be protected. The prison system nor the court room is the right forum, because it needs to be decided by the legislature.
