Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Same. I’ve never been a Burger King fan, but dear Lord, that first whopper after months of eating nothing but MRE’s tasted better to me in that moment than any steak I’ve ever eaten, and that feeling of a full belly after actually enjoying a meal did wonders for my morale.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I thought it was more of an experiment that, if proven successful, could eventually aid in the exploration of space since we would need to engineer ways of creating oxygen for prolonged travel.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I would be sad if he died tomorrow. He needs to face the consequences of his actions, be tried, convicted, and sentenced to show once and for all the “elite” also must play by the rules… then the fucker can die.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

All jokes aside, I’m pretty sure this sign means barbedwire.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

You’re not alone. I was trying to figure out which race was the Sikh’s until I realized I’m just an idiot lol.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

If I’m remembering correctly, the butt plug he was using was marketed as being 100% silicone, so he figured it would be safe. He didn’t know it had a steel core in it.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

It looks like he tried to send one mass flirt message to 39 women, but it went out in a group chat instead of individual messages. So he acknowledged his failure and left his own group chat.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I was upset when Epic acquired Rocket League and drove it into the ground, and then I was pissed when Epic paid for exclusivity on ubisoft games. I bought one game on Epic game stores app two years ago and have since claimed every free game they offer every week whether I care to play it or not. I have also repurchased that game on Steam, so literally the only time I even open epic games is to claim the weekly free game and cost them money.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

So yall are just talking about baby meds for minor headaches. I’m up on that prescription grade headache medication for my debilitating migraines, and I can not take it more than a few times a month without doing irreparable damage to my kidneys and liver. Sometimes, dealing with headache pain is the healthier option.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

My medication is just for managing the pain/alleviating symptoms. I have seen neurologists and have been thoroughly examined.

My migraines are caused by having received multiple traumatic brain injuries due to blunt force trauma and concussive shock waves from being blown up while deployed overseas in active combat. Unfortunately, nothing much can be done about this accept for trying to manage the pain.

The good news is that I seem to be getting them much less frequently than I used to, so maybe my brain is attempting to heal itself. I used to get a migraine just about once a week. Now it’s only about once every other month.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Is there anything to do in that game other than grind?

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

So, according to this analogy, Windows and Mac are working towards saving the planet, while Linux is an unstoppable destructive force hell bent on eradicating all of mankind… is that what you’re trying to say here?

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I have no problem tipping wait staff or bartenders for the service, but I’ll be damned if the cashier at my local Chinese restaurant is getting a tip because they handed me a bag of carryout food I ordered online… tipping has definitely gotten out of control.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

George Lucas always said he hates it when people call Star Wars SciFi as he always considered it to be a space opera with very little Sci and heavy on the Fi.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

As a child, I was heavy into Star Wars and always meh on Star Trek. As an adult, I’m still heavy into Star Wars, but I have warmed significantly to Star Trek and really enjoy it now. I think I just didn’t fully understand Star Trek as a child. They’re very different, but both are great.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

How do you not know what an awning is?

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

So they have a different name for it, but awnings are fairly universal… at least in every country I’ve ever traveled to.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Have they never been to a restaurant, retail shop in a downtown area, or countless other businesses? My local hospital even has awnings over some of the entrances.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Or even simpler things that people take for granted, like antibiotics, which weren’t discovered until 1942 and weren’t widely available until 1945. Can you imagine how awful things like strep throat or a minor infection were to deal with before penicillin.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Just wait until you hit forty, and you’ll have most, if not all, of those.

Star Trek transporters

Transporters work by de-assembling something (e.g. you) and re-assembling it somewhere else. What if, when you’re dis-assembled, you die, and the re-assembled version of you is essentially a copy? Then every time someone steps onto a transporter, their final thought before death is that they’ll end up beamed somewhere else....

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer, (edited )

But didn’t Scotty store himself in the buffer for a ridiculously long period of time?

Edit: I just looked it up, and in the episode of TNG “Relics,” his shuttle crashed into the Dyson sphere on its way to his retirement community. With no supplies and little chance of rescue, he stored himself in the transporter buffer for 75 years until his crash was discovered.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

If you die, you’re dead. The clone that appears on the other end, while being identical in every way, wouldn’t be the same you that you are and wouldn’t possess the same consciousness, an identical consciousness yes, but not the same one.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

It is still you, just not the same you that you were before being killed and cloned. Look at it this way, if the technology existed for me to make a perfect clone copy of you with all your abilities, memories, and flaws exactly as they are, but in order to do so I would need to remove and liquefy your brain but otherwise leaving your body intact, then the you that you currently are would cease to exist. To the outside world and everyone in it, the clone of you would still be considered you as it would be indistinguishable from the original, but the you that was you before the cloning process is now a brainless corpse back in my lab.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

It makes no difference in the sense that a version of you would still exist, but for the version of you that ceases to exist, I’d think it would matter to them. The movie The Prestige from 2006 somewhat illustrates my point on this.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Preemptive strike without formal declaration of war signed by congress and without congressional or U.N. approval. Plus, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and several of their legal advisors were charged and found guilty of war crimes in foreign courts for endorsing torture and cruel, inhumane, and degrading treatment of P.O.W.s but the ICC (international criminal court) decided not to pursue the matter even thought they had ample evidence cause Murica.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Changing their plug design with every new generation of products has created a lot of e-waste as the older plugs are no longer usable, as well as some countries have deemed this practice as a form of planned obsolescence which they have policies/laws against. So the EU basically told Apple that if their new products didn’t switch to a universal standard plug design (currently being the usb-c), then they would not be allowed to sell them in Europe. I’m guessing Apple is now trying to pass this off as their idea.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

My experience is much like the others are saying in here. My initial response was oh wow it’s like no mans sky, but worse. I’m mostly underwhelmed with it after a few hours of game play, and I’m torn between grinding along, hoping it gets better, or getting a refund before I’ve played for too long.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I think this game will have more story focus to it than no man’s sky, which is why I’m hesitant to make such a snap decision as I’ve barely gotten into the story.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I plan to play some more today, so I will happily give you my impressions once I’ve gotten into it a bit further.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Update: I played for around 8 hours yesterday and can now say that once you get through the whole “tutorial” bit of the game, the story starts to become more evident, and I no longer feel like it’s a worse version of no man’s sky. After the first hour or two (depending on how quickly you play), it starts having the type of Bethesda RPG vibes you’d expect from a Bethesda RPG. I’ve been enjoying it.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I’m a white disabled combat veteran who had hoped to be done fighting, but this is not the America I fought for. I will gladly take up arms again to defend our democracy from those who wish to destroy it. You will not be alone on that field if the day ever comes.

Wisconsin Supreme Court chief justice accuses liberal majority of staging a 'coup' (apnews.com)

The conservative chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court on Monday told the new liberal majority in a scathing email that they had staged a “coup” and conducted an “illegal experiment” when they voted to weaken her powers and fire the director of state courts....

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

They seem to believe that the power of elected officials is only vaild when they wield it.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

There have been over 18,000 different gods, goddesses, and various animals or objects worshipped by humanity since we started writing our history, and likely countless mkre that have been lost to time. The majority of these worshipped deities are no longer believed in, and the fact we as a species have been unable to move beyond the fairytales of omnipotent gods told during the bronze age will never cease to amaze me.

Religion in all its various current forms is a tool of manipulation used against the masses to keep them complacent and scared. That being said, even though I tend to lean towards an atheististic view, I will concede that the possibility exists of a higher life form we may consider as a god. If such a life form does exist, it would be so far beyond our ability to comprehend that any claim to know what it expects of us is pure human foolishness or intended maliciously to control the ignorant.

I live my life by the simple principle that if a god exists and is a just god then I’ll be judged by my actions in this life, whether I caused harm to others or lived well doing what I’m able to make the world better, and not on whether or not I believed in and worshipped them. If a god exists that would punish me for all eternity for not worshipping them, then they are not a just god, and as such would be unworthy of such devotion. Bottomline is we will never know as long as we live, and with as short as our lives are, why waste them worrying about what we can never know. Just live your life well, be kind to others, and be the best you that you can be.

He had a very treatable cancer that was found in the early stages and was given an excellent prognosis, but in his infinite megalomaniac manner he decided he knew better than the doctors and opted to treat his cancer at home with homeopathic remedies. His home made new age “cures” clearly didn’t work and by the time he finally decided to get proper treatment his cancer had metastasized and he was beyond help… sounds to me like he played a large hand in his own demise so the joke plays.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

He did nothing to stop the disease and actively rejected treatment and advice from medical professionals because he thought he knew better. So while this isn’t the same as actively killing oneself, he is still more than likely responsible for his own death due to his own actions (or inaction).

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

As a silly goof I freely flow between them.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Divorces are rough, but things do get better. I’m 4-5 years out since mine and I’ve never been happier, it was worth every penny spent.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

The first year was the roughest as I adapted to the new normal. The second year was all about rediscovering myself as an individual. It was somewhere during that second year that I began feeling happier, and in the years since then that happiness has multiplied.

If I can offer some advice, don’t go out and make any major life decisions for the next year or so. You probably won’t be thinking soundly for awhile and don’t want to do anything major you’ll regret once you are. Secondly don’t go running off looking for another long-term serious relationship, you will need some time to rediscover who you are as an individual as people have a tendency to lose that sense of self during long relationships. I made both these common mistakes, and they’re among the few things I’ve done that I regret in my life.

Lastly remember what you’re doing is probably the best thing for your son as every study I’ve ever read says children are better off with two happy parents who are divorced over those who have unhappy parents who stayed together for the child’s sake.

Stay strong. Your world is being shaken up right now, but things will settle down and once you’re on the otherside you will likely realize, like me, that you’re happier. Best of luck.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I’m leaning roaches just because I won’t have as much difficulty explaining why I killed them.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

Well then, guess I’m fucked… I’m allergic to lavender.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I grew up outside Chicago and hate big cities and the endless urban sprawl, moved to a tiny town in Wisconsin with less than 7k people and had similar experiences as you described. Currently living in a nice big/small town of about 50k and loving it. It’s big enough that most people don’t know me or my business, but small enough it still has that small town vibe to it. As an added bonus I’m only an hour or two away from large cities, so not an unreasonable drive if there’s something fun happening that I want to attend… I’ll probably live here for the rest of my life.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

The fact you can’t see that you’re the sucker isn’t a surprise to anyone but you. Stop watching fox news, it’s rotting your brain.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I already don’t watch any of that drivel so you got yourself a deal buddy. You just go ahead and let me know when you want to uphold your end and dump fox news.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

You said you’d consider dumping fox news when I stopped watching the programs you mentioned. That sounded like a pact to me.

The problem with all news media these days is it no longer gives you the facts without it also telling you how you should feel about the facts based on their particular biases. If you only look to the sources that confirm your bias you’re not getting properly informed on the issues, you’re simply existing in an echo chamber having your views reaffirmed by the others that share them without ever hearing or considering there might be more to the story.

I never claimed to be above being affected by this myself, but I am consciously aware of how serious a problem it is. I do the best I’m able to see all sides of an issue, from multiple sources, the more non-biased the better (though this is getting increasingly more difficult), and then I make up my own mind as to what I think without allowing the media to tell me how I should feel.

Fox news is one of the worst sources for biased news as it is the only news network that was started with the agenda of specifically appealing towards a conservative audience. They have even won defamation lawsuits by arguing their shows are performances and shouldn’t be taken as fact. They’ve always cared more about ratings than the truth… MSNBC is a close second on spewing drivel catering to liberals. I wouldn’t trust anything either of them say without first doing some independent research on my own.

Baphomet_The_Blasphemer,

I’ve started playing Divinity: Original Sin 2 at least a dozen times and just couldn’t get into it enough to keep going. To me it feels like it would be best played as multi-player experience, and frankly I just don’t have any gamer friends willing to play it with me. I just bought BG3 because of this post, so really hoping I don’t run into this same dilemma.
