BanjoShepard,

Hold the extra noodles, but that’s the real MVP. Sustained me for a week when I got COVID two years ago.

BanjoShepard,

We are much more basic. Always have a box of Lipton chicken noodle on hand for when a bug hits.

BanjoShepard,

My colleague gave me one of hers this week. She told me they were the good stuff. They were so strong I wasn’t sure which was worse: the cough drop or the sore throat. Checked them out at the store today and they have 20mg menthol! The ones we call “the good stuff” only have 7.5mg.

BanjoShepard,

When you wake up early after a snowstorm and nobody has gone out yet it looks so beautiful. The snow also dampens sounds, and it makes the sound of people shoveling their walks a little magical. Then six hours later it’s just dirty, and annoying.

BanjoShepard,

I was accused of plagiarism in a college history class. Out of the four page paper, a single sentence came back as a high match to an article I had never read. The sentence was really generic too; something like “Skywalker light and sound became a leader in the industry.” I plead my case to the professor, and he believed me, but he still knocked me a letter grade.

BanjoShepard,

Not truly classical, but Copland is my go to. For a single work, I could listen to Dvork’s 9th forever.

BanjoShepard,

The bluntness of the opening lyrics gets me every time I listen to this song, even though I know exactly what the words will be.

BanjoShepard,

My grandma got me into birding when I was a young child. My friends always text me pictures of birds like it’s a quiz. Maybe this means they’ll start to catch up.

BanjoShepard,

The irony of this sign being photographed on a cellphone while driving takes this to the next level.

BanjoShepard,

The older I get the more I’ve started to structure my ideal of being comfortable as meaning “my time is more valuable than my money.” Whereas I used to change my own oil or absolutely refuse to pay a delivery fee on take out, now I recognize that it’s more important to me to save that time than that money. Especially when it comes to things I could do, but a professional could do in a matter of hours to my days/weeks of work (I’m looking at you drywall finishing).

BanjoShepard,

Also, why just drunk driving? Why not you pay child support for murder?

BanjoShepard,

I played this game far much more than I ever should have, mostly for this song.

BanjoShepard,

I always assumed the lighter color of a giraffe was the default or background color and the spots were abnormally dark. This is throwing me off because the spotless one is the same color as the spots would be.

BanjoShepard,

I love ospreys too. I remember being so desperate to see one when my family first went to Yellowstone. I’d never heard of seeing one near my home. Luckily now there’s usually one hanging around a local lake during the winter and spring. It’s great to pedal the kayak around and watch the ospreys and eagles pick winter killed shad off the lake while I catch some trout.

BanjoShepard,

I love to share it as well. Most of my friends are far from birders, but they know that I am, so I get texts with pictures of birds they want identified. It’s grown now so that I get texts from random numbers from friends of friends. I guess I’m the bird guy now.

BanjoShepard,

That’s such a great picture of a beautiful bird. Being from the American Midwest, robins always seem so boring, but I forget that there are so many other robins out there.

BanjoShepard,

This reminds me of the short story “The Great Automatic Grammatizator” by Roald Dahl. In the story a machine is invented that can write great stories, but it’s creators go around buying the naming rights of authors so people will actually not their books.

BanjoShepard,

I think I meant buy. I’ve edited the comment. That said, after rereading the story last tonight, the reason they buy the rights to authors names is to eliminate competition and maximize profits.

Here it is if you’re interested. It’s a great read.
