I once saw “Mom, use this one” and I giggled.

Did you just “shut up Wesley” Wil Wheaton?

“God created the universe”

“And how do we know God exists?”

“It’s in the Bible”

“And who wrote the Bible?”

“God”

The circular reasoning is what really showed me that it was all bullshit and merely a means of control

“we all knew Captain Soebel wouldn’t last 5 minutes in combat, so long as members of Easy Company still had live ammunition”

Damn, I hated the man but that’s sad.

Yep, you only think you own your home after it’s paid off. Try missing a single property tax.

I’ll add to the mix, if it’s Gnome DE, rdp is built in now, it’s under settings > sharing > enable rdp. Then you can use any rdp client, including windows. (Or remmina if from another Linux box)

What hobbies help you minimize or avoid navigating commercialism?

By commercialism, I’m aiming at a mix of spending a lot and sifting through bloated business models (e.g. this or that accessory/equipment, microtransactions, etc.). Feel like many can relate to this sort of commercial fatigue, and yet it creeps even into hobbies where one tries to unwind....

3d printing! A lot of the crap you buy you can make yourself for next to nothing. Also a lot of crap you have can be repaired in similar fashion.

ArtVandelay ,
@ArtVandelay@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, they do in my city. Also public universities. My local uni engineering dept will print for only the cost of filament.

All Plex authentication goes through Plex managed servers. There is no local option unless that has recently changed.

ArtVandelay ,
@ArtVandelay@lemmy.world avatar

Ok fair point. I still won’t use Plex for a lot of reasons, but good to know

I just bought my first one, it’ll be here in 3 days, I’m excited!

If he uses YouTube at all, please consider using FreeTube instead. It’s in all the major repos.

Edit: windows builds too on their website.

For the downvotes, it was a joke to cost them money.

That looks too glossy to be gaffer’s tape, and I’ve never seen gaffers tape in gray, usually always black. That looks more like duct tape.

Such a great, quirky movie. I’m sorry you had that experience with it. It’s one of my favorite Robin Williams movies.

It’s a one week old account talking to a 3-day-old account. I’ve got a feeling there’s no good faith arguments to be had here.

Both of you to assume they wouldn’t change the rules to serve their purpose before changing it right back, if they even bothered at all.

This is my favorite game of all time. At least 15 playthroughs lol

ArtVandelay ,
@ArtVandelay@lemmy.world avatar

It’s such a great game. Give it time though, the first act can feel a bit slow. It’s meant to be savored, not rushed. Have fun!

Read all of Sarah’s lab notes that are scattered around as collectibles. They really help give insight into her thought process as soon as she saw Deacon again and flesh out the reasoning why her reception seemed as icy as it was.

My local gas station attached Mexican joint has been cranking out local amazing cuisine for years, I would literally never even consider Taco Bell

It was also discovered that McDonald’s was aware of the danger of serving their coffee that hot, yet they continued to do so because it meant they had to give fewer free refills. If you have to wait 20 minutes for your coffee to cool down before you drink it, you’re going to get less refills overall

I could get on board with that, as long as you account for situations where you might have bought a second house and moved, while still trying to sell the first. Technically you would still own two houses and I’d hate to see individuals punished for merely trying to sell their old house.
