Minecraft is pretty good for this kind of stuff, especially Java Edition (has mods, and loooooads of servers, some of which also use mods to drastically alter the gameplay. You can also host your own, free of charge).

Think of the most predatory games you can imagine.

Roblox is far fucking worse.

Not only is it a money grubbing game like the worst of mobile free-to-play games, it encourages content creators to exhibit the same behaviours and does nothing about blatant fraud on the platform. Something it's money obsessed nature actually encourages and rewards.

If the shit that goes on in Roblox went on in Facebook to nearly the same degree, Meta would be raked over the coals for it; even Meta haven't stooped so low.

Someone takes an image, runs it through image-to-image AI with 90% strength (meaning 'make minor changes at most'), and then claims it as their own.

That last part there is what makes it stealing. It's not the theft of the picture. It's the theft of credit and of social media impressions. The latter sounds stupid at first, until you realise that it is an important, even essential part of marketing for many businesses, including small ones.

Now sure, technically someone who likes and comments under the fake can also do the same underneath the real one but in reality, first exposure benefits are important here: the content will have its most impact, and therefore push viewers to engage in some way, including at a business level, the first time they see it. When something incredibly similar pops up, they're far more likely to go "I've already seen this. Next.".

Human attention is very much a finite thing. If someone is using your content to divert people away from your brand, be it personal or professional, it has a very real cost associated with it. It is theft of opportunity, pure and simple.

Why don't rabies infected humans act like rabies infected animals

This always puzzled me. Why don’t humans act much more aggressive or crazed like its often depicted with animals. Afaik there’s 2 types of rabies, “dumb” and “furious” so my question is more towards the 2nd type. For example, we never hear of rabies causing a human to accidentally bite another human so why is that?

EEE doesn’t work with FOSS, where anyone can fork a project and go with it.

The point of EEE isn't outright destruction but marketplace irrelevance. FOSS projects can absolutely be hit by it.

Java actually was hit by EEE tactics from Microsoft, and they were actually rather successful. Sun has to sue MS to stop them from calling their Java VMs Java.

HTML was hit by EEE tactics so well that for years IE was the only game in town and other browsers couldn't compete.

MSIE’s popularity arose from monopolistic practices by Microsoft, not its EEE tactics against HTML, which failed miserably.

When Microsoft started pushing IE, they did everything in their power to sabotage the competition. That included the creation of a proprietary web extension called ActiveX. Back in the day, this, along with non-standard behaviour when dealing with the actual standards, was the reason why many, many sites would not work in non-IE browsers. Developers only cared about what worked in IE, not what was standard. That didn't change until the arrival of Firefox.

Wouldn't have applied in this case. Microsoft actually did have permission from Sun to use the trademark...right up until they made their Java VM incompatible with base Java, and Sun sued to terminate the agreement.

I also remember “Best viewed with Netscape” websites (1994), when everyone and his uncle had a proprietary plugin they were trying to push, and only a handful of developers (I was one of them) actually cared about any standards. Firefox (2004) came very late to the party, way after the “MSIE can’t be uninstalled from Windows” shenanigans (1997).

Okay? And? None of them had any actual leverage to force people into using their standards. Microsoft had a de facto monopoly on an essential bit of computing software that they leveraged to hell and back to make their proprietary standards THE de facto standard.

Firefox (2004) came very late to the party, way after the “MSIE can’t be uninstalled from Windows” shenanigans (1997).

And at that point, IE had a 97% market share. Care to take a wild stab in the dark why?

First time? Use Ubuntu. Not only is it easy to use and a good UX overall, most tutorials assume a Ubuntu based distro (there are differences between distros that can be...hard to translate over). That's going to be really useful when you're looking up how to do stuff

The default UX used in Ubuntu may actually be confusing for newbies, as it’s quite different compared to Windows.

It's not that different, dude, and it's not like they don't give you a tutorial on first boot either.

Perhaps a distro which uses KDE, XFCE, Cinnamon, MATE or LXQt by default.

Gauge your audience dude. A Linux newbie will not know wtf anything you just named is. (For any other newbies reading, these are all 'desktop environments' - essentially collections of programs that make up a user interface)

The side dock is a taskbar except on the left hand side. Big whoop. Top panel is basically the system tray as seen on Windows, with all functionality fairly obvious just by looking at it, and there is infact a start button where you can type in the program name you're looking for, just like most people do in Windows. Not exactly MacOS levels of relearning.

Which is EXACTLY why I mentioned them, so that they can Google it.

Or...you can explain what you are talking about. Like I did for you. Sending newbies off on wild Google chases is not helpful.

I do need to be fair though... The ones the other person mentioned, they are infact more 'windows-like' than Ubuntu's default. It isn't hard to learn Ubuntu's setup by any means but it is something to learn.

It's not unhelpful at all. This kind of stuff is exactly what therapy is for. As others have said, it'll do far more help than advice from random internet strangers.

OP hasn't indicated that therapy is out of the question or unobtainable. Given that, the suggestion is still valid.

Also, when it comes to issues that are firmly in therapist territory, bad advice from online strangers can absolutely make things worse than if they didn't ask at all.

Letting someone know that this is therapy territory is at least a good indication to maybe take other comments here with a fine heap of salt

For sex-only relations, sure. For a full on relationship? Nah, it has no bearing. I've dated a virgin that was manipulative as fuck, another that has been the best partner one could ask for, and have had similar experiences with those that have had past sexual encounters.

Their sexual past or lack thereof frankly doesn't matter. You need to look elsewhere for substantial indicators of their character and your compatibility.

True, prior experience does bring prior knowledge of yourself, but for me, exploration has always been a key factor in a relationship, in all aspects. Like, what new memories did you make together, what unique things did you do together, etc.

Exploration of the self should be a constant thing, and while it's certainly no bad thing to have some basics checked off, that kind of discovery should be happening in meaningful relationships whether it's your first or your hundredth.

I would say it's fair to ask why, so long as there isn't any sort of judgement attached.

Some people simply choose not to and that's fine. It may not be how you and I live but it's a valid choice.

Some people don't wanna do it before wedlock. Also a valid choice but you do need to consider if that works for you.

Some also have traumas around the subject, like if their only experience was sexual assault or rape.

If it turns out the reasons are to do with simply being undesirable for one reason or another, chances are you'll notice those before you notice the fact they haven't had sex.

Basically it means that the API calls won't work in a browser and would only realistically work in things like Python scripts.

If API calls are being handled by JavaScript in the browser, they're going to run into issues, because the HttpOnly flag means the JavaScript code can't read the auth token.

Things like Python scripts have no such limitations though, so this can be used in cases where you aren't expecting an actual browser.

The problem there is the same as that of idealised communism, you're relying on humans to do what they typically don't do. Humans will take for themselves at the cost of communities if they feel they can get away with it, including the ones in government.
