Welcome contradictory perspectives and data, which enable us to provide more accurate accounts and construct stronger arguments. b. Describe past events from multiple perspectives. c. Explain and justify multiple causes of complex events and phenomena using conflicting sources. d. Identify, summarize, appraise, and synthesize other scholars’ historical arguments. 4. Apply the range of skills it takes to decode the historical record because of its incomplete, complex, and contradictory nature. a. Consider a variety of historical sources for credibility, position, perspective, and relevance. b. Evaluate historical arguments, explaining how they were constructed and might be improved. c. Revise analyses and narratives when new evidence requires it.

This is how a page from a medieval looks when its original text had been scraped off by someone, overwritten with a new text, and then later, a 19th-century scholar discovered the and tried to make the undertext's ink visible again by painting the page with chemical reagents.

in - Annie Besant (nee Wood) was born in 1847. Annie was born in London, and married at age 20, but the marriage fell apart in a few years. She separated from her husband and began to write - she was an ardent supporter of worker's and women's rights, even publishing a book on contraception (for which she was put on trial and custody of her daughter was given to her ex-husband). She advocated for Irish and Indian Home Rule and independence.

@histodons On the other hand, "Wealth of Nations" is also the title of a mid-eighties 7'' vinyl from the US Punk band SS-20 (maybe widely known for the hit "Is Elvis listening?"). And "The Queen is Dead" has been used for book titles many times, for example from Kate Locke to Stan Grant. So much for Smith(s') reception for today.

@dairpo @histodons It's a fairly innocuous piece. Wright mostly just points out the obvious - changing the images in passports doesn't erase history. And that this whole talking point in the right's culture wars is absurd: societies re-evaluate their stories over time, this is what history is.

Trump’s mugshot is really nothing special, in one sense, and in line with traditional mug shots.

But the full importance of the photo of the former president is yet to be realized.

“A mugshot won’t make Trump’s supporters think he’s a criminal, but it might encourage future generations to come to that conclusion,” writes a police photography expert, who gives us a brief pop cultural history of mugshots
