In what way? You get 2 Designated Love Interests depending on your chosen gender - 1 for gay, 1 for not, and I suppose both for bi. And 1 non-relationship “fling” that I can remember. Seems pretty mild imo for a game that hypes up it’s own “hypersexuality” so much.
Also, side point, did anyone else find it super weird that the Designated Love Interests act exactly the same regardless of their designated compatability until “the moment” where they shut you down if you try anything? Found it pretty awkward when it felt like River was flirting with me the whole time, and he’s not even into dudes.
For a game that wasnt a “porn” game it was pretty graphic, even if your partner choices were pretty limited. I definitely watched my character do 200% more fucking than in every other game I’ve ever played.
I was annoyed that I didnt get enough interactions right to do the Kerry endings too, I’m not doing a completely new playthrough just so I can fuck a dude tho.
And yes, River was definitely flirting with another dude.
It’s certainly more than most games, but I was expecting less rigidity at the very least. It feels so checkboxy and limiting for a setting that’s meant to be so unrestricted.

The real answer is just that it’s a blanket term used by conservatives to refer to liberal ideas. For example, saying that gay marriage should be legal makes you “woke”
GTA worlds have always been about reflecting what goes on in the real world, either played straight or as a parody. Something like this is not off-brand for Rockstar North at all, and certainly isn't them going woke.
In the remaster trilogy they removed a southern flag from some inbred redneck because they said it’s no longer culturally sensitive. I seriously doubt they would do something like this with the next game.
Oh I know that they were the ones who actually did the work. But Rockstar had to sign off on this stuff in some way. They definitely had a say in what was removed from the game.
They in no way had to sign off anything about that game. The GTA franchise is controlled by Take Two Interactive, not Rockstar North.
It was very evident that Rockstar North had no input into these games, or they simply weren't listened to, considering the game launched with obvious errors that clashed with the intended designs for the original games.
Edit: also, do you really think that Rockstar North of all people, the developers of the original Manhunt game and the same people that put a graphic torture minigame in the GTA5 mission By the Book, would somehow draw the line at the Confederate flag?
I don't think woke is a bad thing, I'm just saying this isn't even a change of course for Rockstar North. They have always done this kind of social commentary in GTA.
Just looked him up :( Assuming this guy has access to actually money, I never understand why they don’t just hire a cleaning service to regularly help them out. This guy looks like he’s battling some serious depression and I speak from experience when I say that having a clean(er) room helps massively with that. I’m not perfect about it, but I also don’t have the money. This feels less like laziness and more like depression. The other guy comes across as confident but lazy.

Yeah, he definitely has mental health issues. He also has a real tooth count in the single digits. He’s part of a wider group, they should really get him some help. I agree that XQC is probably just lazy or did it as a bit. People seem to forget that streamers play a character most of the time.
People love flawed male characters and are willing to forgive them almost all missteps, but don’t treat female characters with flaws the same way.

But also they specifically made her character unlikable. You were supposed to find her irritating in comparison to Walter, who is an objectively worse person. I think that was almost the entire point of her, to make you side with an objectively bad person over the other slightly less objectively bad person.
The rewatch feeling is spot on. Walt was completely passive when we meet him and then he becomes.a gigantic, abusive asshole. It’s tough to watch again because he destroys so much.
It’s annoying how many people are like “she treated him like a child” and then use that to justify what he does. Which includes sexual assault, murder, gaslighting, emotional manipulation, oh and making drugs.
It has been well known for a while that BG allows modification to genitalia. It isn’t woke bashing enough to say, BG allows someone to make a trans character. Their base doesn’t give a fuck about someone playing a computer game but add in the extra feminist shtick about larger penis size and boy howdy, that’s some wedge issue cultural war bullshit to flog clicks.
I think it’s awesome that we can create characters from marginalized people in current society, when people get used to something it becomes normal and accepted. It’s a good thing, not some wedge issue. We need to be more accepting of people that do nothing but be themselves as long as it’s not trying to push down others.
Most definitely. The thing with BG delivery of the opportunity to create marginalised characters is that it was largely done without fanfare, it’s just an option.

Why should I (or anyone else) get angry about this? The article reads like this is a setting you have to opt into so unless you go looking for it you will never notice its even there. If they had implemented this with no announcement would you still be upset?
