I don't like the surveillance state the US has frustratingly subscribed too, but technically the FBI is not breaking the law by snooping on citizens (not advocating for forgiveness, just being factual).
What's disappointing is that the US Military Industrial Complex can't be bothered to outspend Russia on this, even though allllll that aid goes into their pockets.

Not an excuse but the Russian population has been brutalised for a few hundred years and they are culturally warped in a manner known clinically as “Fucked in the head”.

It’s to portray Russian soldier as people who doesn’t even respect 80 year olds. Similar to when someone kills an 80 year old to steal a bag when all they have to do is take it. The killing is completely unnecessary and shows cruelty. And same thing here, the article is designed to show how cruel Russian soldiers are who doesnt even leave 80 year olds alone.

Otherwise yes, of course young women are raped much more then 80 year old wimen. That’s why it’s considered extra cruel, and that’s why they are pointing it out.
It reinforces that the rapes are done for the terror factor of victims beyond those that are raped and not because the soldiers are horny or whatever other stupid excuse.
I also find that odd. It makes it almost seem as if raping elderly women is something that requires extra mention. So that nobody assumes that we are talking about the “normal”, “understandable” rape of younger women. It’s seriously fucked up.
I think almost any crime against the elderly or children is generally viewed as worse, with good reason. They’re generally more helpless and less able to fight back/run away.
Historically war basically consisted of everyone getting together in a big field and having a large fight. People who lived all of half a mile away could just get on with their lives as long as they didn’t go near the war field.
It’s something that happens when you give people weapons and let them loose in another country knowing there is little oversight or consequences. Just allows the bad guys to finally do what they want. The “regular people” contain an underestimated amount of assholes.

They are programmed into believing that the other country is evil, so that justifies their actions in their own minds.
Russia has always used state sponsored terror tactics and humanities violations. Just go read up on the way they treated people in their way to Berlin in WW2. It’s horrifying. Raping children to death in front of their families is just standard operating procedure for the Russian army and that never stopped being true.

The biolabs theory is a joke as is the idea that a republican FBI director appointed by Trump would protect Biden. I always hear about how non Americans have a better perspective on US news, but deluded misinfo like this makes me believe that idea is bullshit.

Key concept: ignore allegations and only follow convictions. Then you’ll see most accusations are bullshit/projection from those committing the crimes. Hint: nearly all true convictions/guilty pleas are from the R side.

Ever since Trump they’ve taken a strange faux “anti-interventionism” isolationist perspective. This is why they have pulled back from Afghanistan, tried to ease tensions with Russia and generally focused on their “American jobs” rhetoric. It is obviously not applied consistently, like anything in the United States since the preamble to the declaration of independence saying “We hold this truths to be self evident that all men are created equal”, but this is somewhat consistent with their newer Dovish and isolationist insistence of avoiding getting tangled into conflicts abroad. Ironically for all his racist base and his constant hawkish and white supremacist rhetoric, Trump is one of the few modern Presidents to not have started any significant military intervention abroad. They have however also done a heck of a job making life as a minority in the USA way worse and wasted a ton of potential with the trade war on China and also the atrocity of giving moral/covert support to fascists abroad.
